My favorite saying, Life's Short Eat Dessert First, has really came into play this week. We had two members at Enloe hospital (that's two too many!), one member making a significant business change and I traveled to Idaho, looking for a rental property in a state that I have never been to before. This just proves that life is uncertain and we all need the gentle reminder to live life to the fullest every day.
A little birdie told me when she went to visit Bev that the room was full of Soroptimist sisters. I know you all have also been reaching out to show Billie some Soropti-love.
I was so happy to hear that we are supporting our Soroptimist's in good times and in uncertain times. This makes me proud to be your president.
I am excited to announce that I have teamed up with the Peg Taylor Center for my president's project. Peg Taylor Center is doing intense and very important work for Camp Fire survivors and the majority are senior women. Through increased levels of hands on therapy such as art, music and other wellness activities, they are helping with the healing process that these seniors need, having endured the Camp Fire.
This week our program speaker will be Keith Crawford, Program Director of Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE). We share the commonality of making service a priority in our community. It will be great to hear about the volunteer work being done through CSU Chico.
Next week, most of our committees will meet, some for the first time. Thank-you to those committees who have already begun/met all summer! Also, thank you to our co-chairs who keep all of us moving in the right direction.
