Saint John the Baptist Catholic School Newsletter
Dear SJB Families,
Greetings!
This week’s All School Mass was simply beautiful. Fr. Theodore gave an excellent homily, the choir sang with such reverence, and our altar servers and readers did an outstanding job. One grandmother even commented on how impressed she always is with our student readers. What a blessing that part of our vocation as educators is to bring your children to Mass each week!
We are also especially grateful for the generous support of our parish. This year, funds raised from the Parish Festival will be used toward the replacement of lights in both the church and the school. The project was completed over the summer. The new lights are brighter, more energy efficient, and even include dimmer switches in classrooms—another project that keeps our 100-year-old building both functional and beautiful.
Additionally, Fr. Paolo shared wonderful news this past weekend: any overage from the Annual Bishop’s Appeal will go toward funding a school security officer. Our hope is to have an officer present each morning through Mass, and again at dismissal, adding another important layer of safety for our students.
We encourage you to be as generous as possible to both the Parish Festival and the Annual Bishop’s Appeal. Your contributions directly bless our school community and provide tangible benefits for our students. Thank you for your continued support!
See you at Mass!
Maggie Javins

| | | | “Eagle's Fleet” Seeking Volunteer Drivers | |
Many of our St. John’s School families have parents who both work or who stay home with small children and are unable to help with driving their students to special events. We are seeking trustworthy volunteers who are willing to be contacted by teachers to drive students of any grade to these outside learning experiences. If you have some availability during school hours or know a youthful grandparent or someone else who would be a trustworthy driver of our students, please pick up the required volunteer paperwork that is available in the school office. Thank you! | | | | Virtue of the Week - Obedience
|
Definition: Listening and assenting to rightful authority without hesitation or resistance.
Obedience In Practice
- I do what is asked of me by those in authority.
- When something is asked of me, I do it as soon as possible.
- When something is asked of me, I carry it out with a cheerful attitude.
- When I do something asked of me, I give it my full effort.
Prayer for Obedience:
Lord Jesus, You loved doing all that the Father asked of You, even
when it meant laying down Your life on the cross. Please help me
grow in the virtue of obedience. Give me a willingness to do what I
have been asked, and to do it joyfully out of love for You. Amen.
