Lower School Edition
(Pre-K4 - 2nd Grade)

Did you know that in grades K-5, LFNO uses Lexia not just to boost foundational and advanced reading skills, but also to guide literacy instruction?
As students complete units, teachers can use the targeted skill builder lessons to intersect with any skills that were not completely mastered in the lessons. It is important that students are practicing regularly and meeting the recommended usage minutes in order to get the most out of this research-proven, and nationally recognized literacy program.
Lexia is proven to close the literacy gap when used with commitment and fidelity! If you are having trouble setting up or logging into your account, please contact your ELA teacher for login help if needed.

Academic Contingency Plan
This document aims to clarify the contingency plan for the two following cases:
● Your individual child needs to quarantine because of COVID
● Your child’s class needs to quarantine because of COVID
Virtual Back to School Night Information
In a traditional school year normally we would open the school doors for all of you to experience a snippet of your student's typical school experience. Given the Covid-19 safety precautions in place as well as Hurricane IDA, we sadly cannot welcome you to campus at this time. Instead, your Back to School Night experience will be a virtual experience with each of the teachers on Thursday, September 30th. Each homeroom teacher will send you an email with a Google Meet link for a live session to present academic content and expectations for this school year.

Parents, please check that ALL immunizations are up to date for your student(s).

For convenience, see the link for the GNO Mobile Immunization Bus schedule or check with your child’s pediatrician.
Please send updated records to:

Routine COVID Testing

Louisiana Department of Health Partnership with Omega Diagnostics
As a reminder, LFNO has partnered with LDH and Omega Diagnostics testing to provide FREE weekly COVID testing for all students and staff.
Please note, there is no testing for Johnson Campus due to students being in virtual instruction mode.

NOTE: If you previously registered your child for testing, then you do not need to register your child again. They will be able to test each week on their testing date from that first registration.

Below is the planned schedule for testing.
Please note that the testing window will be the same every week.
● Lower Campus Testing Window: Mondays 8:30am - 10:30am

(Please register each student at their respective campus location): Registration Testing Link for Lower School Students: CLICK HERE

A parent or legal guardian must register any minor under 18 years old. You will be asked to complete a one-time consent and HIPAA authorization form in order for the test results to be shared with the school and district. Testing is voluntary. The testing performed will be non-invasive anterior nasal PCR testing. Results will be delivered to you by text or email within 24 hours and the Omega Diagnostics team will follow-up with you directly if your child has a positive result.
