Hope you are all having an enjoyable holiday weekend! We wanted to give you today’s updates:
First, a reminder that while our main form of communication is email, we STRONGLY urge you to get in the habit of checking our website regularly for updates, especially as we prepare for what has already proven to be an unusual season.
MAHA has shared their return to play document with associations, and there is a scheduled Zoom call scheduled this week to go over that document and answer any association questions regarding its contents. It is a comprehensive document that addresses tryout dates, evaluation skate dates, best practices for rinks and associations regarding face coverings and social distancing. We know there is a lot of discussion happening among our membership about face coverings in particular - and we have been forwarding on to our rink ownership and MAHA various options, clarifications, and questions regarding those requirements. Given that it is the holiday weekend - we are once again asking you to be patient as we work toward getting questions answered throughout the coming week or so.
Our number one priority throughout this entire pandemic has been the safety of our membership - and that includes doing everything we can to ensure our players are given every opportunity to be ready for tryouts and evaluation skates. Between the weekend camps on Sept. 12 & 13 and the weekday Tryout Prep Camps (with on-ice and off-ice options) on Sept. 14, 15, 16 & 17, we hope to do just that.
We are also working on some opportunities for on and off-ice sessions on the weekend of September 19 & 20 - nothing is finalized, so keep an eye on your inbox and our website for additional information.
With that being said, KOHA’s tryout dates will be Monday-Wednesday, September 21, 22 & 23 for 10U/12U/14U. REMINDER: Gold/Silver tryouts will happen simultaneously - there will not be a separate Silver tryout for any age group this season. (JV families - stay tuned for information about your season. There are a few additional factors in play, including MHSAA decisions regarding HS hockey, and some clarifying questions we need to ask on the MAHA Zoom call this week.)
House B evaluation skates will be Tuesday, September 29 and Wednesday, September 30 for 10U/12U/14U.
House C for 6U/7U/8U; 10U and 12U/14U will open Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4.
