Message from the Principal
Dear Families and Friends,

St. Michael-St. Gabriel is once again pleased to kick off our “Footsteps with God” Walk-A-Thon fundraising campaign! This event, which spans the course of one month, is our annual fundraiser for our school. Contributions made to our Walk-A-Thon help to offset and cover the cost of several activities and enrichment programs and projects for our students, in addition to providing upgrades and additions to our classrooms and campus. 

Beginning next Thursday, and most subsequent Thursdays leading up to our Walk-A-Thon, we will have one Walk-A-Thon dress down day each week. The money collected by students on these days will go directly toward their individual student goals and will also contribute to their class and overall school goals. As always, it is our goal to have 100% participation from every student in the school. No contribution is too small, and every donation is greatly appreciated.  Our goal is to raise over $20,000 this year. Last year we raised just over $16,000. Specific incentives will be announced at today’s pep rally, including school, class, and individual prizes. Remember that any amount of money our students and their families can contribute goes directly back into the school, benefitting all 350 students.

This year’s Walk-A-Thon will be held on Friday, October 11th. If you have any questions about this event, or if you would like to volunteer to help, please contact the main office or our PTA president, Mrs. Karen Purichia. Remember that all volunteers must be Safe and Sacred trained to volunteer.

Box Tops for Education

In case you haven’t heard, the collection of Box Tops is now moving away from the traditional clipping of Box Tops to now scanning your receipt! The new and improved Box Tops mobile app uses technology to scan your store receipt to find participating products and then instantly adds the Box Tops to our school’s earnings online. Simply go to your app store and download the Box Tops for Education app. Then choose St. Michael School (3352 West 30 th Street, Indianapolis). It’s easy and saves you time! For more information, click here .
Tutoring and Study Tables

All St. Michael-St. Gabriel teachers offer tutoring at least one day a week. If you see that your student is struggling in a particular class, please consider having your student stay for some extra help. There is no cost for these study tables. For a list of current tutoring times, click here .  
Gym Uniforms

Junior High students who are in need of gym uniforms may purchase those though the main office. The cost for both a t-shirt and shorts is $20.
Beginning Band

The first rehearsal will take place on Monday, September 9th from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Students should be picked up at Cardinal Ritter High School. Students will be escorted to Cardinal Ritter by Ms. Leyba and then be picked up just outside the Cardinal Ritter band hall behind the chapel. If you would like to join the band program, please reach out to Ms. Leyba at kleyba@cardinalritter.org.

Safe and Sacred Training

We would like to remind all our families wishing to help with activities where our students are present that individuals must have completed the Safe and Sacred online training and completed a background check in order to volunteer or to serve as chaperones for a field trip. Please understand that until the certificate and background check are on file, we cannot, per the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, allow individuals to volunteer or work as employees of the school without this training and background check completed. If you completed your Safe and Sacred training, but did not complete the background check, simply log in to your account with your password and press the background check to complete the entire process. If you completed your training over a year ago or are unsure of your status, please log in to your Safe and Sacred account to see whether your training and background check are current. All Safe and Sacred certificates will have an expiration date on them, allowing your training to be valid for three years.
