Principal's Letter

“If you listen, God will also speak to you, for with the good Lord, you have to both speak and listen.” St. Catherine Laboure

Dear Families,

This week, I am highlighting our third priority for the year: Communication.

As Holy Family has grown from 1 class per grade to 2 classes per grade to 3 classes per grade, there has been a need to intentionally organize the way that the school communicates both internally and externally. Communication takes on many forms from social media, the school website, emails, meetings, and conversations. All these methods of communication are good, but different communication is needed for different situations.

In reviewing the current strengths at Holy Family, the e-newsletter, the quarterly magazine, and the social media platform for the school were identified as positive ways that communication is shared. The initial communication review revealed that there was a need to further review how and when communication is shared, how to develop clear messaging, and the best channel for different forms of communication.

Based on this priority, we have identified several opportunities in this area:

1. Send a weekly newsletter from the grade level to the parents in the grade.

2. Review the current communication structure to determine the source and frequency of the communication.

3. Review whether there is a need for communication to be available in multiple languages and how to support the need.

4. Identify the channels of communication and discuss the goal for each channel of communication.

Several of these initiatives are already in action this fall including the weekly grade level newsletters, and I look forward to sharing progress during the year.

God Bless,

Erin Vu

Virtue for Next Week:

Next week our school community will be focusing on the virtue of docility. Docility means a willingness to be taught. Docility looks like following directions and listening to others.

Character Trait for Next Week:

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Open-Mindedness. Open-mindedness means you like to consider new ideas and try new things. You examine things from all sides and don’t jump to conclusions.
