A Word from the CEO
It's been a cold winter in the Northeast as well as much of the rest of the country. But, turning the calendar to February gives me hope; Spring is just a month away.
These winter days are a good time to check the beneficiaries named on your JRB account. Unlike other assets, your JRB account is inherited by the beneficiary we have on file regardless of what is in your Will and/or Trust. Far too frequently we find that the beneficiary named on your JRB account is not who you intended. Often participants neglect to update their beneficiary information when a child is born, they marry or divorce, or the named beneficiary passes away. Take a look at our article on the nine common mistakes made when naming beneficiaries — and contact us to ensure your beneficiary designations are up-to-date.
This month we also announce transitions in the JRB Board of Trustees. After 33 years of devoted service on behalf of our participants, Rabbi Joel H. Meyers retired from the Board. We also say farewell to Ms. Dana Sharon Winer; she contributed much to improving our coordination with USCJ.
We are happy to announce that the Rabbinical Assembly appointed Rabbi Paul F. Resnick and the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism appointed Mr. Andrew Schaer. We welcome their enthusiasm, new ideas and passion for building financial security for everyone working within the Conservative/Masorti Movement. Read more about the experience and skills they bring to the JRB in the article below.
Finally, I will be attending the NAASE conference on February 24-25 in Portland, OR, and the JEA conference on March 17-18 in Chicago, IL. I'll also be in Boca Raton, FL on March 4-6. These are great opportunities to review your financial well-being. See the article below to set up an appointment.
If you have questions about your JRB account beneficiary designations, the comings-and-goings from the Board or your overall financial goals, please contact us via email or call us at 888-JRB-FREE (572-3733).
