Crews Complete Weekend Closure at Sixth Street/Paseo Grande
A weekend of dry weather allowed crews to repave the intersection of Sixth Street and Paseo Grande . The Sixth Street closure was postponed several times, due to rain, but crews completed work in the area the weekend of January 27-30.
New Westbound Maple Street Off-Ramp, Maple Bridge to Open Soon
With the paving of the Sixth Street/Paseo Grande intersection complete, the new eastbound Maple Street off-ramp opened February 2, and the new westbound off-ramp is scheduled to open mid-February. Please watch for new configurations of these ramps and stay tuned for announcements for two-way travel to resume across the Maple Street Bridge.
The final ramp to be completed is the eastbound Serfas Club on-ramp, which is scheduled to reopen later in February.

Nightly Lane, Ramp Closures to Continue to Install Loop Detectors
Nighttime lane and ramp closures are under way for crews to install loop detectors, which are wire sensors embedded in the roadway to allow Caltrans to collect traffic data. These sensors provide real-time highway data every 30 seconds. Each wire loop is activated by an electronic signal, so when a vehicle passes over or stops on the loop, the vehicle acts as a conductor, and this information generates data about traffic volumes, occupancy, speeds, travel times and location of traffic incidents.
This data usually is relayed graphically to show red for slow speeds, yellow for slower traffic and green for free flowing traffic conditions on websites, phone apps, traffic management centers and traffic newscasts.
Please expect intermittent closures of lanes and ramps for this work and allow extra travel time.

Crews Respond to Rain Storms
Project crews have been working hard to keep the 91 Project on schedule to open the new lanes this spring by responding quickly to heavy rains, repairing potholes and managing erosion. As this rainy season continues, please drive safely:
  • Before driving, check the vehicle's tires, wiper blades and brakes
  • Always drive with headlights on when using windshield wipers
  • Be aware of changing conditions and follow detour signs
  • Watch for workers and equipment
  • Allow extra travel time
  • Be extra careful when driving at night
  • Follow the "Move Over" Law
  • Avoid blocking intersections
  • Don't "jump the queue;" wait your turn to merge safely
  • Do not use mobile phones while driving
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you
Closures of Eastbound 91 at I-15 to Continue at Night
Please note, there will be ongoing nighttime closures of eastbound 91 at Interstate 15, Monday through Saturday nights, through February, for continued work on the Express Connector between the 91 and Interstate 15.

Crews are removing the temporary support structures from this large flyover connector, which will link eastbound 91 to southbound 15 and northbound 15 to westbound 91. This eye-catching bridge is the largest structure of the 91 Project.
