NEW ORLEANS - She is 100 years old, and she gets more beautiful with age. Our magnificent church building, located at 4400 St. Charles Avenue at the corner of Napoleon Avenue, turns 100 years old this year. Our ministry, Watson Memorial Teaching Ministries, celebrates its 92nd anniversary this year.
There is a lot to celebrate and thank God for! And celebrate we will! Under the theme, "Looking Back, Moving Forward," with the foundation scripture Philippians 3:13-14, Watson Memorial will recognize this milestone with Praise & Worship, Prayer and Reflection on Sunday, May 21, at the 10:00 am Worship Service. We are honored that joining us is special guests Pastor Clyde Staes of Mount Airy Baptist Church in Boutte, La., "The Church Where Love Abides."
Ninety-two years, countless souls saved, four generations of pastors, making possible what seemed impossible; our journey has been inspiring and glorious!

"We are very grateful to God for allowing us to continue with our theme of 'Making The Impossible Possible' through Jesus Christ," says Bishop Tom Watson. "As we celebrate 92 years of serving and disciplining people from our city, region and around the world, we pause this weekend to show our appreciation for what God has allowed us to accomplish. I pray that our vision and mission will continue to impact the world as we look back and move forward during this season."
The New Orleans community is welcome to join us as we recognize this Historical and Monumental Moment in our Rich History.
As part of the Anniversary Celebration, the annual Founder's Night was held Thursday, May 18 at Watson Memorial in Algiers where the Rev. Corey Watson serves as pastor. The featured speaker was a long-time friend and supporter of Watson Memorial, Bishop Jermaine Hampton, pastor of Prayer Tower Church of God.
About Watson Memorial Teaching Ministries
Bishop Tom Watson is a third generation pastor. His grandfather, the late Bishop Thomas Benjamin Watson Sr., founded the United Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ where he served as senior presiding bishop for over 40 years for more than 200 churches throughout the United States. Pastor Tom Watson's father, the late Aubrey Watson, Sr., was pastor of the St. Expedite Spiritual Church of Christ located in Central City. Bishop Tom Watson was ordained into ministry December 1988 and assumed pastorate of St Expedite on that same night. St. Expedite was renamed Watson Memorial Teaching Ministries in 1994 to honor the pastor's late grandfather. Pastor Watson has been married to Executive Pastor Pat Watson for nearly 40 years. Pastor Pat joined her husband in fulltime ministry in 1995. She serves as Executive Pastor of the Ministry and Executive Director of The Family Center of Hope, the 501©3 social service organization that Bishop Tom Watson founded in 1989. Rev. Corey Watson, Bishop Tom and Pastor Pat Watson's son, has served as pastor of the Westbank Church since 2003.
