Dear Artisans,

This vintage of everyone's favorite completely blew us away. We were NOT expecting how elegant this 50-year-old vine Spanish treasure would be. After making 15 vintages in a row, Cult Aussie winemaker Chris Ringland (with four 100-pointers to his name) perfected this wine and knocked it out of the park.
This wine has been ranked in Wine Spectator's Top 100 multiple times, as high as #27. They didn't submit this vintage for some reason, but we're sure it would have been a repeat performance:

It's no surprise this comes from Spanish wine-importing legend Jorge Ordonez, the guy that helped bring some of the finest producers world-wide including Muga and Llopart!

More About Chris Ringland
"Chris Ringland is a relatively modest bloke who gives most of the credit for his extraordinary wines to his nearly 100 year old vineyard. He now has [well over 30] vintages under his belt, the results of which place him with Marcel Guigal, Gerard Chave, Christophe Baron, Manfred Krankl, and Michel Chapoutier as the international grandmasters of Syrah/Shiraz." - Robert Parker

More About Alto Moncayo
Bodegas Alto Moncayo is located in the Campo de Borja region of Spain. The grapes for all of their wines are harvested from the same estate vineyards, and all spend time in 100% new French and American oak barrels. These wines are balanced, lush, high-toned, old vine, unblended Grenache.

This wine converts more skeptics to the virtues of this alluring varietal than any other producer.

"Veraton" comes from vines only slightly younger (30-50 years) and is aged in barrels for 16 months. It is a wine with an attractive collection of balsamic notes, of chocolate and black fruits, with incredibly lush mouthfeel and an extremely pleasant finish.

We just received 60 bottles at a negotiated special price that we're passing on to you today!

All my best,
—James Tran
2018 Alto Moncayo Veraton Garnacha
Campo de Borja, Spain

93 Points - Vinous:
"Brilliant purple. Intensely perfumed, spice-tinged black and blue fruits, vanilla, candied flowers and cola on the nose, along with a smoky element that builds with air. Broad and fleshy on entry, offering juicy cherry cola, blueberry and mocha flavors sharpened by a jolt of spicy white pepper. Strongly echoes the blue fruit and spice notes on the very long, focused finish, which features lingering floral and mineral flourishes." - Josh Raynolds (Feb 2021)

92 Points - James Suckling:
"A 100% garnacha with aromas of dark cherries, plums, raisins, sweet spices and cigar box. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins. Rich, ripe and velvety with a flavorful, spicy finish. Drink now or hold." (24 Aug, 2021)
