Remix FX is a powerful plugin in Logic Pro X that allows you to manipulate and transform audio in real time. Here are some of the uses of Remix FX:
Beat Jumps: Remix FX lets you jump to different points in the audio track by beat, allowing you to create rhythmic effects and stuttering effects.
Filters: Remix FX has a range of filters that allow you to shape the sound of the audio track. You can use filters to remove frequencies, boost certain frequencies, or create interesting frequency sweeps.
Delays: Remix FX has a range of delay effects that allow you to create echoes and repeats of the audio track. You can adjust the delay time, feedback, and other parameters to create a range of delay effects.
Reverbs: Remix FX also has a range of reverb effects that allow you to add space and depth to the audio track. You can adjust the reverb time, size, and other parameters to create a range of reverb effects.
Stutter: Remix FX has a stutter effect that allows you to chop up the audio track into small segments and repeat them in a rhythmic pattern. You can adjust the speed and rhythm of the stutter effect to create interesting rhythmic patterns.
Overall, Remix FX is a versatile and powerful tool that can be used to create a range of creative effects and transform the sound of your audio tracks.
Want to take a more hands-on approach to manipulating your audio? Remix FX can be controlled with Logic Remote, a free app available for iOS. At the 970West Studio, Logic Remote is installed on the studio iPad, so you can beat jump, filter sweep, and stutter your project without ever clicking the mouse.
Keep an eye on the 970West Class Schedule for an upcoming class focusing on Remix FX and many more plugins that you can use to spice up your projects!

Jason's Pick:
Bromances in pop culture are so hot right now.
Off the top of my head (just kidding, I totally had to Google) we have Duane "The Rock" Johnson and Kevin Hart; Leo and Brad; Bert and Ernie … you get the point.
But the new movie release that best nails this phenomenon is "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" starring Nicholas Cage and Pedro Pascal.
The chemistry between these two is downright heartwarming. Pascal plays a super fan of Cage's work, while Cage basically plays himself.
Both of them are feeling unfulfilled in their lives, and when they meet, they eventually decide to write a movie together. From then on, the movie goes full meta, poking fun at Hollywood and action movie tropes in general. The happy ending is well-earned and makes me want to hang out with Pascal and Cage while writing movies, attending premieres, and all those other "movie star things."
If you want to work on your movie with your new-found friend, book a session today at the 970West Studio!

Katelyn's Pick:
I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and if you are too, you may have seen the recently dropped teaser trailer for Ahsoka. If that's the case, you may have squealed in delight (as I did!) at the appearance of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Whether you are a long-time fan of the Star Wars franchise or brand new, you may be interested in brushing-up on a little back story of this much beloved villain.
"Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising" is a novel by Timothy Zahn and the first installment in a new trilogy set in the Star Wars universe. The story follows the early years of the enigmatic Chiss Grand Admiral Thrawn as he rises through the ranks of the Chiss Ascendancy, a powerful and mysterious civilization in the Unknown Regions of the galaxy. Thrawn must navigate the complex political landscape of his society while also facing external threats from a dangerous new enemy known as the Grysk. With his strategic brilliance and tactical ingenuity, Thrawn sets out to protect the Chiss and uncover the Grysk's true motives, even as he faces opposition and betrayal from his own people. The novel explores themes of loyalty, honor, and the cost of power, while also offering a fascinating look at a previously unexplored corner of the Star Wars universe.

Denise's Pick:
At the time of this writing, residential curbs of Grand Junction are haphazardly decorated with piles of pruned tree limbs, black plastic bags of mystery detritus, couches with permanent human-shaped sinkholes, and usually a broken object resting on top of each pile like a jaunty cocktail cherry. It's officially Neighborhood Clean-up time in downtown Grand Junction. For many, it's time to organize and liberate precious space in the house or yard (i.e., spring cleaning). For others, it's time to hunt and gather all the discarded treasures that still have potential (i.e., spring gleaning). So I can't think of a better time than now to suggest you take an evening off and immerse yourself in Agnes Varda's semi-autobiographical documentary "Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse" ("The Gleaners and I").
With her signature style (gallivanting, honest, bold, playful), Varda brings viewers on a rambling adventure through France, capturing the stories of those who collect what others have left behind. This was Varda's first film shot on a digital camcorder: a tiny 2000s-era camera about the size of a large tea mug. What makes the film compelling is not the videography, the setting, or the editing, however: it's the stories. Varda skilfully peels away the masks and defenses that people often wear. So while her camera might capture footage of an elderly, spouseless, unhoused man living off of discarded vegetables (a man discarded by society), through storytelling and interview, Varda reveals the man's humanity and dignity. Through this and other portraits in "Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse", Varda challenges us to reconsider our notions of waste, and reevaluate what, or who, gets dismissed.
