The people are loving this on both Cellar Tracker and Vivino:
This special wine is made only in exceptional years from pre-selected, estate-grown grapes. Champagne house Louis Roederer established their California outpost in 1982, and its tete de cuvée, L'Ermitage, has impressed since its debut with the 1989 vintage. Carrying on the tradition of Champagne Louis Roederer in France, Roederer Estate produces its sparkling wines in the traditional French method and adds special oak-aged reserve wines to each blend.

Made from 52% Chardonnay and 48% Pinot Noir, this wine offers fine bubbles and the creamy finish that are the usual footprints of the L’Ermitage wine. Aromatics of hazelnut, brioche and flint are followed by inviting quince jelly aromas and bright acidity with layered texture. Dosage is balanced with the acid and structure brought by the reserve wines from cask. It can be enjoyed now or over the next decade and a half.

Only 3,649 cases were made, which is why this sells out quickly for every vintage. We were given a final drop of 30 bottles available to you today.

It's surprising that after 7 appearances in WS and WE Top 100s, one as the #1 Wine of the Year, this darling is STILL overlooked. You know this will be the last time this remains a case-worthy price. It's apples to oranges to compare, but look at how much Louis Roederer Cristal currently costs and do the math...

Happy Mother's Day and Weekend!
All my best,
—James Tran

97 Points - James Suckling:
"This is a powerful and dense sparkling wine that is first and foremost a classic-quality wine. And then you think about the bubbles. Full-bodied with lots of brioche, pie crust and bread dough. Great finish. Five years on the lees. 52% chardonnay and 48% pinot noir.”

96 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"This grand, special-occasion wine is wonderfully complex and layered, but also powerful in the way its toasted walnut, Bosc pear and fresh bread flavors start out strong in the aroma and keep pumping on the palate and through a lingering finish. Nice and dry, tangy but mouthfilling, it's a sophisticated indulgence. Best now to 2028." -Jim Gordon (3/22)

94 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Classically styled and expressively vibrant, this bubbly opens to flavors of baked apple, roasted hazelnut, clove, nutmeg and other spices. The finish fans out, building a lingering richness. Drink now through 2023. 3,649 cases made." -TF (6/30/22)

Krug "Grande Cuvée" Continues to Blow EVERYONE Away! Limited 170th Edition

"Wonderful precision and depth right away on the nose... Vivid, driven acidity adds focus and perfection. Dried lemon and a wonderful, creamy texture with a mineral undertone. Extremely long, almost endless. Sophistication here. Drink or hold."
96 Points, James Suckling

"...the creaminess goes on. Rich but light on its feet. A definite buy and a keeper...a triumph of blending"
96 Points, Decanter

"This iteration has a fine poise—it's mature and toasty on the one hand and offers rich fruit on the other. It is a finely balanced wine that is ripe and full in the mouth."
96 Points, Wine Enthusiast
