You might not be familiar with Palmer & Co. Champagne as they've JUST arrived to the US market for the first time.
"The house is not a new one. Champagne Palmer & Co. began some 70 years ago as a band of seven growers with Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in Montagne de Reims."
Hello friends,
The 2012 Palmer & Co. Vintage Brut Champagne is, without a doubt, the one bottle we recommend for all to enjoy or cellar.
Jancis Robinson stated "it reminds her of Dom Perignon" when she tasted it blind in her review. That's with a price tag that's over $100 LESS.
If that wasn't already exciting enough — we have a limited collection of Palmer's new releases of old vintages that are all disgorged recently. This prestigious collection of perfectly aged vintages were safeguarded in their 18-meter-deep chalk cellars. The cuvées have been selected by cellar master Xavier Berdin and Palmer's four oenologists for their superior quality and ageing potential. We secured some of the best vintages of the last 40 years: 2000, 1999, 1996, and 1985 <— which we have a few MAGNUMS of! We are the one exclusive source in the United States for these preciously rare bottles!
According to William Kelley of Robert Parker's Wine Advocate,
"Founded in 1947 under the name Producteurs des Grands Crus de Champagne, Palmer & Co is one of Champagne's best quality-focused cooperatives, and having recently selected a new importer, they are making a concerted effort to court the US market. Vinification is predominantly in stainless steel, and the proportion of reserve wines employed in Palmer's non-vintage blends ranges from 30% to 35%. Aging sur lattes is quite protracted."
That last bit means the wines spend an extended time on the lees, picking up far more complexity and flavor - the 2012 vintage spent 6 years on the lees, literally double the 3 years required by French law!
Even better, 2012 is fast gaining a reputation as one of the very best vintages of this century. It is Decanter Magazine's highest-rated vintage with 5 out of 5! Out of 49 years of rating Champagne only nine other vintage received a 5 out of 5. Even the outstanding 2002 vintage only received 4 out of 5 - click HERE to see the article.
Please take advantage of this special notice as we have only a limited handful of these exceptional bubbles.
Cheers,
—James Tran

2012 Palmer & Co. Vintage Champagne
98 Points - Decanter Magazine:
“Nougat, pine nuts, almond and verbena on the nose; grip and a phenolic subtext, slate and stone fruit; rigor and potential tease us with a beguiling persuasion. A complete wine with exceptional length.” (7/7/21)
94 Points - Wine & Spirits:
"Palmer focuses its vintage wine on parcels in the premier and grand cru villages of the Montagne de Reims—the villages where the original founding growers were based. And this wine shows the concentration and supple ripeness of the 2012 harvest. All the fruit sweetness and acidity is integrated into a high-wire act of chalk-dusted tension, lasting on scents of Meyer lemon zest, spicy cider apple and undertones of earthy complexity. It feels complete and well suited to long aging." (Dec 2019)
93+ Points - Wine Advocate:
"Palmer's 2012 Brut Vintage continues to show beautifully, wafting from the glass with notes of citrus oil, buttered toast, smoke and crisp green orchard fruit. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a tightly wound core, tangy acids and a pretty pinpoint mousse, it's long and penetrating, concluding with a chalky finish. This is evolving very gracefully and will be even better with more time in the cellar: it's one of the finest vintage releases I've tasted from this address.." - William Kelley (9/23/2021)
93 Points - Wine Spectator:
"This expressive Champagne is laced with exotic notes of fresh ginger, jasmine and lime blossom, with a toasty edge of grilled nut to the black cherry and nectarine fruit flavors. Firm and well-knit, offering a lingering finish. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Drink now through 2034. 42 cases imported." - AN (12/19)
18 / 20 Points - Jancis Robinson:
"A champagne that triumphed in the 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards. 100% from grand and premier cru vineyards. 50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, 5% Meunier aged on lees for five years. Disgorged 9 May 2018. Dosage 7 g/l. Tasted blind. Light coppery gold colour. Very persistent bead. Smells sweet, almost candified. But this is very nicely balanced by citrus acidity. Reminds me of Dom Pérignon! Lightly reductive and rather beautifully balanced." (7/7/21)

1996 Palmer & Co. Vintage Champagne
Both Wine Advocate and Vinous Media gave this vintage 97 points, with Vinous Media saying the wines were "austere, tightly wound and brisk." Wine Spectator gave it 96 points and said the wines were "Ripe and intense; firmly structured and potentially long-lived."
93 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Tasted from magnum, Palmer's 1996 Brut Collection Vintage is very typical of this vintage in Champagne, unfurling in the glass with aromas of iodine, smoky citrus oil, mandarin and honeycomb. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, bright and incisive, with a broad, delicately textural attack, good intensity at the core and a bright spine of tangy acidity that contributes considerable back-end drive and effectively plays off the wine's dosage. Drinking well today, this is the finest wine I have ever tasted from Palmer." - William Kelley

1985 Palmer & Co. Blanc de Blancs Vintage Champagne
92 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Tasted from magnum, the latest release of Palmer's NV Blanc de Blancs Brut is showing very well indeed, bursting from the glass with a ripe and expressive bouquet of grapefruit, orange zest, toasted bread, white flowers and nectarines. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with an elegantly textural attack, fine depth at the core, ripe but racy acids and a long, flavorful finish. This has always been one of Palmer's emblematic cuvées and this disgorgement—from early 2018—would appear to be a particular success." - William Kelley (Aug 2019)
