2x Best Cult Sonoma Coast Grand Cru Pinot Noir
2021: Their Greatest Vintage to Date
Dear Artisans,

We told you all year long the 2021 West Sonoma Coast AVA Pinot Noirs are special.

Occidental and Raen, the two we emailed you about a half-dozen times, ended up Wine Spectator's #2 and #4 Wines of 2023. (They sold out within minutes.)

So today, we are pleased to offer two of the most profound 2021 Single-Vineyards located 1.5 miles or less from the Pacific Ocean, while still available. These are utterly delicious, and among the Pinots I'm drinking at Thanksgiving:

These are the two best 'True Burgundian-Styled' American Pinot Noirs we have tasted this year, and they truly deserve all the acclaim thus far. Alas, the finest is always fleeting; either long sold out or so tightly allocated they are untouchable.

Through our strong relationships, we have secured an extremely limited allocation which we are thrilled to offer you today! Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to secure the finest from the greatest vintage *the just-minted West Sonoma Coast AVA has had to date!

We have only 24 bottles of Flowers Sea View, and 12 bottles of Raen Sea Field. Don't drag your feet on these, like you did with the #2 and #4 wines of the year!

Happy Thanksgiving,
—James Tran
2021 Sea View Ridge Estate West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

97 Points, #53 Top 100 of 2022 - James Suckling:
"What an amazing nose of grilled dried seaweed, oyster shell, dried strawberry and iron. Full to medium body with linear tannins that give it drive and length. Iron shavings. Tight at the end. Superb. Drink after 2025." (Sep 2022)

95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"A medium youthful ruby hue, the 2021 Pinot Noir Sea View Ridge Vineyard has a lifted perfume of red fruits, orange citrus oil, cranberry, pink peppercorn, and fresh red flowers. The palate is medium-bodied, with ripe, fine tannins and a bit of angular but pleasant feel that will round out with some time, although it has a great energy from its refreshing acidity. I love this wine, which opens up beautifully with time in the glass. Drink 2024-2034." (Jul 2023)

95 Points - Wine Spectator:
"A tightly focused, long and pure expression of Pinot, with raspberry coulis and blood orange zest notes streaming along, laced liberally with sous-bois, red tea and savory accents. Reveals lots of underlying energy, with everything in lockstep through the mineral-edged finish. 3,000 cases made" - JM (Sep 2023)

95 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Refreshing acidity and delicious, lively fruit flavors light up this elegant, well-balanced wine grown fewer than two miles from the chilly Pacific. Red cherries, raspberries and leafy, woodsy touches carry the palate, while medium tannins keep it fresh." - JG (Jul 2023)

95 Points - The Wine Independent:
"The 2021 Flowers Sea View Ridge Pinot Noir is pale ruby-purple in color. It gallops out of the glass with bold notes of warm cranberries, black raspberries, and Morello cherries, with hints of bay leaves, cast-iron pan, and mossy tree bark. The medium-bodied palate is elegant and refreshing, with mineral-laced red and black fruit layers, supported by fine-grained tannins, finishing long and ferrous." - LPB (Jul 2023)

94 Points - Decanter:
"From the Sea View Ridge vineyard at 1,875 feet elevation, roughly 2.89 km from the Pacific Ocean as the crow flies. One of the loveliest Pinot Noirs from Flowers, it can be a bit austere after just popping the cork. But with some aeration comes a cavalcade of savoury aromas leading with clove, allspice, cedar, mint, dusty cherries and crushed pomegranate seeds. Full-flavoured, with a medium-bodied mouthfeel and present tannins washed over by pixelated acidity, bringing freshness and crunchy textures like biting into a juicy cherry. Unfolds in blood orange tones with a finish marked by wild herbs and sandalwood—a deeply flavorful and delicious Pinot Noir. (Drink between 2024-2034)" (Mar 2023)

2021 RAEN Fort Ross-Seaview Sea Field West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

99 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
The 2021 Pinot Noir Sea Field is a transparent jeweled ruby color and takes things up a notch with its superb aromatics of ripe cherry, gravelly earth, and fresh rose petal. Medium-bodied, with sweet tannins and notes of ripe black raspberry and fresh herbs, it maintains a light sunny touch to its slightly darker profile. Drink 2025-20240.

98 Points - James Suckling:
Extremely aromatic with plums, crushed strawberries, rose flower, powdery dirt, before turning to cherries. Hints of flower stems. Perfumed. Full-bodied and very, very firm. Rather steely. Tight at the end. It opens beautifully in an hour or so. Drink after 2025.

95 Points - Wine Spectator:
Shows mulled blood orange, strawberry and raspberry fruit, which meld nicely with a vibrant savory edge, along with hints of red tea and incense. The finish is underscored by crushed sea shell hints, which add nice lingering tension.

95 Points - Vinous:
The 2021 Pinot Noir Sea Field is intensely floral and full of flavor, with cool-climate savoriness driving a core of bright, red-toned fruit. Deceptively medium in body, the 2021 has a ton of complexity waiting to emerge. Time in the glass brings out compelling inner perfume and quite a bit of nuance. But, it is tightly wound and quite reticent at this stage.

Winery Notes:
Our 4.8 Sea Field Vineyard (monopole) produces our most elegant wines year in and year out. This unique bottling comes from an ancient Sea Field of diverse marine soils and fractured bedrock dating back between 66 and 200 million years. Soaring 1,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean and less than 3 miles from its waters, Sea Field is both our most coastal and highest elevation pinot noir site. The combination of these elements creates Sea Field.
