Among musicians playing Saturday during Rhythm & Ribs is "Scout," a sophomore honor student at Tift County High School. She goes by the single name and is performing with her full band for the first time.

Scout is involved in the TCHS drama program and show choir. She started playing guitar and ukulele at age nine and began performing publicly the next year.

“She loves painting, making cool jewelry, skateboarding, and volunteering in the community,” says her mother, Liv Henderson. “Scout is an old soul and loves music from the '70s. She has Earth Wind & Fire on her bedroom wall, and Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong playing on her record player.”

Her repertoire includes songs by Susan Tedeschi, Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton, Michael Jackson, and Fleetwood Mac. She enjoys taking current pop and rock songs and changing them with her own arrangements.

During her set at 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Fulwood Park, Scout will perform one of her new original songs. She is also set to perform at Food Truck Friday as an acoustic duo with her bandmate Joel Jones from 6-8 p.m. Oct 15 at ABAC's Georgia Museum of Agriculture.
