Ray-Pec Parent Community,

While much of my correspondence to you this year has revolved around COVID-19, there are many other things we are working on that will continue to propel the Ray-Pec School District well into the future. One exciting thing is something the Board of Education approved at its November regular meeting.

At its Nov. 19 meeting, the Board approved Ray-Pec’s new Long Range Facility Plan for 2021-2031. The plan is based on current and anticipated future needs as driven by enrollment increases, the need to maintain the facilities that we currently own, and new opportunities for students. The plan will inform the School Board on how to potentially move forward with fiscally-responsible no-tax-rate-increase bond issues to meet the challenges of the future. Work on the plan began in mid-2019 and included a steering committee of Ray-Pec teachers, principals, city planners, architects, demographers and district administration. Over 25 community presentations and three surveys of parents and residents were conducted to gather feedback on priorities.

The plan meets the needs caused by an increasing enrollment, additional opportunities for students, and a responsibility to maintain what we already have in order to prepare students for their futures. I want to thank all of those who sat on the committee, and those who attended presentations or took the time to participate in the surveys. More information about the next steps to implementing the plan will be communicated in coming weeks.

This is an exciting time to be in Panther Country.

Thank you for entrusting your children to the Ray-Pec School District.
