Family Night: Weather and Climate
Family Night: Weather and Climate premieres on Earth Day, April 22nd on your local Pennsylvania PBS station. In this program, Kindergarten through 5th-grade students and their families will meet a meteorologist who works with Space Force and a weather forecaster from Weather World.

Students will also learn about:
  • snowmaking at ski resorts
  • the effects of higher temperatures on young and older people
  • the impact of climate change on wildlife

Young learners can put their new knowledge to work with fun, hands-on activities that don't require a computer.

"Family Night" programs are designed for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, their families, and caregivers. The programs introduce a variety of career paths along with hands-on activities that don't require special tools or a computer. The "Family Night" programs also align with Pennsylvania curriculum standards.

Artistic Expression
WQLN is hosting an art show that showcases work from middle and high school students on May 5th from 5pm to 7pm.

These young artists shared the story or motivation behind their piece when they submitted their work. Many students referred to their artistic ability as a way to express what is going on in their personal lives and in the world.

Awards will be presented to select artists at each grade-level after the show.
"A program like this gives students a voice and a creative way to share their stories and experiences"
