Over 1,500 residents came to the Town Green on Friday, Dec. 6 for the city's very first tree-lighting event, "
Holiday Glow on the Town Green." The evening featured live choral performances, parade, the lighting of the great tree and the Town Green - and the arrival of the great elf himself -- Santa. The festive lights will remain on the Town Green throughout the holiday season.

The Year in Review -- Another Banner Year for Peachtree Corners
2019 has been a great year for our city. We have yet to reach our 10
th
anniversary but have accomplished much since 2012 when Peachtree Corners was incorporated.
As we look ahead to the coming year, I would like to take this opportunity to review some of the city’s many accomplishments over the past 12 months.

City Receives Chamber Award for Curiosity Lab
|

Peachtree Corners was recently recognized by
Partnership Gwinnett
for its innovative efforts in being the first in the United States to create a specially designed test track for autonomous vehicle and smart city research.
Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners
, a 5G enabled 1.5-mile living laboratory made its debut in September.
“We are honored to be recognized by Partnership Gwinnett for our efforts in developing Curiosity Lab,” said Mayor Mason afterwards. “The new lab has already begun to attract new technology-based businesses to test intelligent mobility and other technologies.”

for his seven years of service as the Planning Commission Chairman for the city.
Matt began serving on the city's newly-formed Planning Commission shortly after the city was incorporated in July 2012.

Holiday Trash and Recycle Pickup Schedule
|
|
This year Christmas Day (Dec. 25) falls on a Wednesday, and the following Wednesday is New Year's Day (Jan. 1), which means there will be no garbage and recycle pickup on these two holidays.
For those who receive service on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, pickup will be one day later. This pickup schedule change is for Christmas and New Year's holiday weeks only.

Peachtree Corners held its first Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 11 at the city's new
Veterans Monument
. The service was organized by the Peachtree Corners Veterans Monument Association. The 2,500-square-foot monument is located on the Town Green at the Town Center

Celebrating New Year's Eve with Fireworks
Consumer fireworks can be used or ignited on Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve) up to 1:00 a.m., Jan. 1 (New Year's Day).
Please note that the hours that residents may shoot off fireworks is regulated by the State of Georgia and enforced by the local authorities (Gwinnett County Police).

Keep Up with Road, Intersection and Sidewalk Improvement Projects
The City’s
Department of Public Works
manages the municipal Capital Improvement Program (CIP). This program consists of survey, engineering, and construction projects that are funded by SPLOST, GDOT and Federal grants. Examples of CIP projects are:
- intersection improvements,
- sidewalk and pedestrian projects,
- traffic signal improvements,
- safety upgrades for vehicles and pedestrians,
- road and street resurfacing.

Census Day is Coming
In preparation for the 2020 Census, the City and its volunteer committee have been providing census information and answering questions for the community at events such as the SEC Championship Game on the Town Green (pictured).
Other events have included the Holiday Glow on the Town Green and an informational table at Ingles grocery store. Look for more events over the next few months as Census Day (April 1, 2020) approaches. More information is available at

Replace Old Toilets, Receive a Rebate
Gwinnett water customers are eligible for a $100 rebate by replacing old toilets and qualifying low-flow, high-efficiency toilets. Gwinnett County participates in the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District's Toilet Retrofit Program, which helps save 2.4 million gallons of water per year (that's 900 million gallons a year!).
