Hello Trio Family,

Over the past 18 months, I have offered a possibility of moving my full-time income out of Trio, and now, that's happening. I will be serving Trio part-time rather than full-time beginning in October.

I have been serving as a Marketplace chaplain since 2018, first in Mora, and now in greater Twin Cities area. I enjoy this work because it intentionally puts me alongside unbelievers every week, bringing Jesus into secular workplaces. Most of Marketplace Chaplains' employees are part-time, as I have been, but growth in Minnesota's region has moved Marketplace to offer me a full-time Assistant Director of Operations position and I have accepted. This position does not require a move, so we plan to stay in Mora and at Trio at this time. This change for me comes with two big implications for Trio.

First, I plan to stay on with Trio as the Lead Pastor, but on a part-time basis (roughly 10 hours per week) rather than full-time. This means I won't be able to do as much for Trio nor will I be as available to people. Meetings with people as well as website and administrative tasks will decrease. I will continue preparing Sunday services, taking care of contacts and admin, and organizing church meals, plus I am hoping to coordinate an outreach connecting event at least every two months. (I still want your ideas on what things would help you connect with your friends and people in your sphere of influence.)

Second, Trio's finances have been tight for the past few years. and staffing is by far our largest expense. We have stayed out of the red, but as of the end of August, Trio has approximately $6,000 total in savings and checking. Moving my full-time salary out of Trio's budget provides an opportunity to better invest in our mission to make disciples and vision to help people build meaningful, personal connections with God and people. It will also bolster our savings (and develop an emergency fund), help us address building issues (like replacing our dead AC unit), and most importantly, invest more into connection-building outreach events to help us build meaningful, personal connections with unchurched people in Mora and Kanabec County.

This change will likely have many impacts for Trio and my family, so I ask for your patience and flexibility as we learn how to be the church this way. If you have questions about these changes, please feel free to meet with me, call, text or email. I will answer any questions you have to the best of my ability. Thank you for your role in Trio and all you do.

God has great things in store for us!

Peace,
Pastor Kirk
