Happy Summer!

We have some new and exciting things to share!

See Cones, Think People.

Two MaineDOT workers—60-year-old James Brown and 51-year-old Dwayne Campbell, both of Waterville—were tragically killed on January 13, 2026, when a minivan ran a stop sign at the end of an on-ramp on I-95 in Waterville, colliding with a tractor-trailer and propelling the vehicles into the construction zone. In response, MaineDOT and several state agencies and businesses who work on and alongside Maine’s roadways asked Burgess to create a video campaign for National Workzone Safety Awareness Week. Produced with No Umbrella, here are just a few videos from this powerful series.

June is National Cancer Survivors' Month

Getting to work with New England Cancer Specialists, we have the very good fortune to be inspired by survivors and the incredible stories they have to tell. Below, learn about Trevor Maxwell and Jessica Delaney Sloper—two incredible humans.

Trevor Maxwell is an 8 year colorectal cancer survivor. And that’s only the beginning of his story. From battling depression to starting the nationally renowned support group, Man Up To Cancer, Trevor’s is a story of perseverance, of love, and of care for all who have been touched by cancer. Working with the team at New England Cancer Specialists and production partner Navadise, we created the following work to bring his story to life.

When Jess Delaney Sloper was told she only had two years to live, she immediately wanted to prove her doctors wrong. And she did with the help of New England Cancer Specialists.

When we heard of Jess’ story, we immediately wanted to tell the world. And we did, with the help of production partner, Navadise. Jess left little paper hearts with messages on them for her family to find in case she didn’t make it through her surgeries and treatment—see how we made that central to her story in the following spot.

Back in the fall, we had an audacious idea with the team at New England Cancer Specialists—to launch New England’s first podcast that is specifically about the experience of cancer, whether you are a patient, a survivor, or a medical expert. We are now multiple episodes in and feedback has been off the charts. Take a listen for yourself, we think you’ll find them to be informative, emotional, and always honest.

Back in late April, I did something very out of my comfort zone—I walked the runway in the 4th Annual New England Breast Cancer Alliance's Runway for Hope dressed as Marilyn Monroe in her iconic pink strapless gown all to celebrate a big birthday and my 27th year cancer-free!

And just like that, we are now in the blink known as Maine summer. For the many hopes I have for you, for all of us, the greatest is happiness. For me, it’ll be competing in my 19th Tri For a Cure (that’s all of em!) on July 12th and working alongside the best team and client partners.

Happy Healthy Summer, my friends. Hope to see you out there!

Burgess welcomes two new faces!

Kristina Ilaria,

Account Executive

For those of you who know us (and if you’re reading this, that is the most likely scenario) you’ve had the pleasure to meet Kristina Ilaria, our new Account Executive. Her experience working with agencies on the West Coast and in Boston, her know-how in the world of digital, and her presence built from years as a yoga instructor make our team so much better and we couldn’t be more excited to have her here. Be sure to say hey and ask about her pup, Sally.

Zach Taranko,
Intern

Zach is our summer intern, straight from his undergrad at Quinnipiac and before he starts his MBA. A native son of Saco, Zach is a thoughtful, intelligent student of both marketing and business. We’re going to let him cook, so keep your eye out for this budding star.
