Blueprint for Operating Successful OUD Treatment
The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), working with PCSS, launched a pilot study on how to best address intake, billing and coding procedures in community healthcare centers, critical aspects in positive patient outcomes. 

Shellie Sulzberger, LPN, CPC, ICDCT-CM and Patrick Sulzberger, CPA, CHC, of Coding & Compliance Initiatives Inc. and Gervean Williams, Director of Financial and Business Practices, ,NACHC, conducted the study for NACHC and PCSS and recently issued the “MAT Documentation and Charge Capture Process: Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)” report. The purpose of the study was to review all aspects of care outside of treatment—compliance and process improvement—which can be critical to patient care.   [ Read more ]
NACHC Creates a Business Plan for Treating OUD
The National Association of Community Health Centers, in conjunction with PCSS, created a business plan for health centers and practices who treat opioid use disorder. The plan includes:
  • recommended staffing
  • a management summary,
  • a detailed outline of tasks in days 1-90
  • billing codes
  • case study of financial plan

Grant Seeks to Increase Minority Physicians Treating Addiction
In the field of public health and medicine, minority representation among clinicians has been underrepresented, and in the field of addiction medicine specialty training even more so. While African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans represent nearly 30 percent of the U.S. population, they collectively comprise less than 10 percent of all physicians and a much smaller percentage in addiction fields.      [Read more]
