Peer Support Services
In June, SAMSHA released national model standards for peer support certification. SAMHSA hopes these model standards will assist organizations with integration of peer support specialists into the behavioral health care workforce and add to the continuum of services available to people in recovery. SAMHSA’s TIP 64: Incorporating Peer Support into SUD Treatment Services is also a resource for organizations wanting to learn about the key aspects, functions, and uses of peer support services.
Opioid Addiction: Prevention and Treatment Services
Community-based organizations are an important component in the delivery of prevention and treatment services responding to the opioid public health crisis. By offering an Opioid Settlement Toolkit for Community-based Organizations, Social Current (COA is the accrediting division of Social Current) is helping these organizations learn how to participate in the decisions being made about the uses of settlement funding and how to access this funding to develop or enhance their services.
Joint Commission Adds Mental Health to its Safety Campaigns
Speak Up for Your Mental Health, a patient safety campaign from The Joint Commission, is designed to educate people on how to advocate for themselves and their mental health.
