The Brief

Christian Campus Foundation at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

They're Back!!

I wouldn't say that campus was a ghost town over the summer, but what a difference there is in walking The Quad today compared to a month ago!! Join me in continuing to pray for the students, faculty and staff, and the entire campus. And, let me know when you are in town - I'd love to show you the new place and share the vision of CCF with you.

God shaped hole

There's a song from the 90s by Audio Adrenaline called "God Shaped Hole" that has echoed through my mind as I've walked campus the past week.

There are approximately 60,000 students on campus. How many of them know Jesus? How many of them are actively rejecting Jesus? How many are simply living life for themselves and in the moment with no regard for any purpose other than good times and passing grades?

We are working to equip students to know and pursue Jesus. We are gathering students together to teach the Bible and build fellowship. We are praying that these young men and women will bear witness to the Lordship of Jesus with not only their words, but with their lives. We pray that they will live as disciples who make disciples.

This year, as in the years that have passed, students will feel that emptiness, and they will try to fill it. The only thing that can heal that hole, or void, they feel is the hand of God. Substitutes won't work. But how can they know and believe what Jesus has done for them if they don't hear about Him from us? We are called to preach that good news on this campus to these students. We are called to show them how Jesus loves them and is calling them to Himself.

Andy

How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him? And how can they hear without a preacher?

God Shaped Hole

by: Audio Adrenaline

All around the world

people are trying.

Deserted souls cry to be filled.

Spirits left undone

their hearts are hollow.

I can see, in their eyes,

hollow lives.

And every heart, and every soul

and everybody's got a

God-shaped hole.

You may have tried

to fill that hole inside

with an empty hand you reached in vain.

Substitutes don't work, bandages only hurt.

The only thing that heals is the hand of God.

Nobody's meant

to be left all alone.

Our lives are much too short

to have an empty soul.
