It’s easy to feel unheard at times while rebuilding the ministry - especially during the quiet seasons on campus.
I have faith that my prayers (and yours!) will be answered, and that students will come to know Jesus and grow devoted to Him. But when campus is quiet and empty, holding onto that faithful optimism can be tough.
Yet I know the work happening in these quiet moments is essential to the fruit we’ll see later when students gather around the table for Bible study, when they share deep conversations across campus, and walk together through the good, the bad, the stressful, and the hilarious.
Preparing Bible studies and praying over those future conversations prepares my heart for their questions.
Walking across campus praying for students - both those I know and those I haven't met yet - surrender to Jesus.
When I research background context on a passage over the summer, no one hears it or comes to know Jesus better on the day I type it - that comes later.
When I pray to meet new freshmen while walking past Burrill Hall toward Caffe Paradiso, no one has walked up to introduce themselves yet - that comes later.
But I know my prayers are heard.
In 2 Kings, King Hezekiah became terminally ill, and the prophet Isaiah told him to get his affairs in order because he would not recover. But Hezekiah - one of the few kings noted for doing what was right in the Lord's sight - didn't curl up in defeat. He turned his face to God and prayed and his life was extended!
When you pray and it feels like you aren't being heard, don't stop. Don't quit serving God with every breath. Turn your face to Him, keep praying, and trust Him completely.
Your prayers are heard.
