This week marks our third week studying Philippians, and one of the themes that has stood out to me is the deep relationship Paul had with the churches he wrote to—especially the church in Philippi. I love how close and connected Paul remained with them, even with the challenges of communication and travel in his day.
Throughout this letter, you can feel how much Paul cares for them. He isn’t writing to a distant group of strangers - he’s writing to people he loves, people he knows, and people whose faith brings him joy. Even when he is geographically far from them, Paul still feels that connection and is encouraged because he continues to hear about what God is doing among them.
As much as Paul rejoices in what he hears about them, he still longs to be with them face to face. He writes:
“I am confident in the Lord that I myself will also come soon.”
Philippians 2:24
I love that combination - Paul is deeply grateful for what God is doing in the Philippian church, and is encouraged by what he hears about them - but he is also eager to be with them in person and to experience true community with them once again.
That’s something we get through our church family, and it’s also what we’re praying and working to build on campus. We desire that students would not only learn Biblical truth, but experience gospel-centered community - genuine friendships shaped by Christ, and lasting relationships that help them grow in faith.
Please join me in praying for CCF—that we would continue to be a Christ-centered community where young men and women can come to know Christ and grow in Him. Pray that through them, their friends would see Jesus. And pray that as students go from here, we would continue to hear good things - stories of lives changed, faith strengthened, and students standing firm, in one accord, contending together for the faith of the Gospel (Philippians 1:27).
