Last week I filmed a video podcast version of "Where Grace Abounds" with Eric Floyd, Nyiesha Harrington, and Dr. George Cope. Our film crew was Christian Chamber member CM Productions and it was an all-star cast with an outstanding conversation.
When we were finished, I hopped in my car, ready to head across town to pick my daughter up from school. The studio was in an area that I'm not familiar with and I wasn't sure what route to take. I started driving, but when I turned on my phone to get directions, my GPS wouldn't work. I got the dreaded white screen—I had nothing!
I panicked. I pulled over and tried to calm down. I turned my phone off and back on, and got the same blank screen. I didn't know where I was, I had no directions, and I wasn't able to call anyone for help. I did the only thing I knew to do.
I prayed, "God what do I do?"
In my spirit, I heard, "Drive."
So I got back on the road. My palms were sweating and every worst-case scenario was running through my mind, but I just kept moving forward.
As I drove, I realized that this is what it is like to 100 percent trust God. God is the author and creator of everything. He can see the whole picture. He knows how much more peace, joy, and success I will have in my life if I seek him as desperately as I sought the map on my phone.
Once I fully understood the lesson, my phone map came back on and I had my directions. Turns out I was going in the right direction and I was able to pick up my daughter on time.
Many of us won't "drive" until we know every detail, but that's not faith.
We are often called to move forward when we don't know the whole plan.
God clearly says His word is a lamp to my feet and light to my path. He doesn't say night vision and the ability to see far into the future, He says seek Him, trust Him, and drive!
