April is Fair Housing Month, commemorating the civil rights principle that everyone deserves the opportunity to choose a home and neighborhood free from discrimination. At Habitat for Humanity of Denton County, we believe in a world where everyone - no matter who we are or where we come from - deserves a decent place to live.
A safe, affordable place to call home can free a homeowner from financial instability, from stress, from having to make impossible choices between essential needs. Home should be a refuge, a safe place to rest, to make memories that will last a lifetime, to watch children grow. But, for too many, that isn’t the case.
Without your support, more families in our own community would continue to be stuck in the generational cycle of poverty. But thanks to you, Habitat’s tremendous community, more families in need of affordable housing have the opportunity to partner with Habitat and build themselves a brighter future through a permanent housing solution - home.
From witnessing first steps to celebrating graduations, owning a Habitat for Humanity home makes many of life’s special moments possible for more families every day. Home is the key to a brighter future and hope beyond measure. Thank you for making "home" possible in Denton County.

Last Saturday, April 23, our Interfaith partners continued the work on the Crawford Family's future home, giving the house and shed two coats of paint! The paint color that Levatta chose for her new home is called "Caribou Brown." Our Partner Families get to choose several aspects of their home based on their likenesses, including cabinet color, appliance color, light fixture styles, and more. In addition to the stability, security, and safety that a a Habitat home offers, this is just one more way to make their new house feel more like home.
Special thanks to Creekwood Christian Church for providing a delicious casserole lunch on April 23! Generosity of time and efforts from partners like these is what makes our mission to build homes and community possible.

We have been blessed to partner with Gillean Brothers Roofing, LLC on many of our homes for several years now. Most recently, Gillean Brothers Roofing has donated the labor and materials for the roof on the future home of the Crawford Family. A few weeks ago, their team worked diligently on this roof, and their strong commitment to serving their community year after year is inspiring and encouraging to our ministry.
With amazing partners like this, we are able to continue building high-quality, energy-efficient homes for our Partner Families to thrive in for generations to come. Thank you, Gillean Brothers Roofing, LLC!

Kevin Sample, our ReStore Manager, knows first-hand what it's like to be in need of a home. Having experienced almost one year of homelessness after serving in the U.S. Navy, Kevin worked hard to get back on his feet. Now, he serves to help Habitat achieve its mission by ensuring the ReStore continues to be a successful way to fund the building of affordable homes for families in need in Denton County.
As you may have noticed, each Tuesday, Kevin speaks directly to ReStore customers on the Habitat for Humanity of Denton County ReStore Facebook page, announcing what's new on the sales floor each week and highlighting each week's specials. We hope you will accept his invitation to come be a part of our community by shopping, donating, or volunteering at the ReStore.
