Friends,

A new school year has brought renewed energy to Morrissey Boulevard. All throughout campus, students are once again learning, performing, and competing. From the purposeful quiet of Corcoran Library, to the music-filled Bulger Performing Arts Center, to the roars on the soccer field - our campus is alive.

This week, I’m happy to welcome the Visiting Team from the Northeast Province of Jesuits to conclude our Sponsorship Review. We welcomed the committee to Boston last night with a wonderful dinner in Cadigan Hall. They jumped straight into their work of reviewing our self-study this morning, meeting with departments and visiting classes throughout the school. I am excited to learn what insights they will gain over the next few productive days.

As we enter a wonderful new year, I'm challenging all members of the BC High family to discern how they can be more involved in the life of our community. There is no shortage of opportunities throughout the coming season!

In less than two weeks BC High will host our first Alumni and Family Homecoming Weekend in many years. Our student body is incredibly passionate about this event, and hopes to see it grow into a valued tradition which they will experience for years to come. But for now, we need your support! Register at www.bchigh.edu/homecoming and return to campus for all of the fun events we have in store.

Whether you attend Homecoming, refer a friend or neighbor to our Open House, or join us for the upcoming Hall of Fame induction - I know you will answer the call to continue making our vibrant community shine. I look forward to seeing many of you soon.
AMDG,

Grace Regan P'12
Help Us Find The Next Generation of Eagles!
The admissions season is in full swing and our Enrollment team is excited to find the next generation of outstanding Eagles! So far BC High has hosted an Admissions Fair for private middle schools and high schools that brought more than 50 options to Morrissey Boulevard for families to explore.

Our first Information Night for grades 9-12 was a great success, with more than forty families joining us on campus to learn more about the BC High experience. Tonight, we hope to see just as many families for our Middle School Info Night in the Arrupe Division. If anyone you know is interested, but can't make it - don't worry! There will be additional Info Nights for grades 9-12 on November 19 and grades 7-8 on December 11.

More importantly, our Open House dates are fast approaching. We encourage anyone considering BC High to attend our Arrupe Division Open House on October 26 at 10:00 a.m. and/or our High School Open House on October 27 at 11:00 a.m.

We'll also be hosting a variety of Community Receptions in towns throughout Massachusetts allowing prospective families to hear from BC High faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumni in their community. More dates will be added in the coming weeks, so visit this link or contact the Enrollment Office for more information.
Upcoming Ignatian Values Day
On March 12, 2020 our community will participate in our annual Ignatian Values Day. This rewarding tradition is dedicated to our mission and focuses on the Graduate at Graduation. Every year students explore a central theme and grow to better understand themselves and the world around them.

This year’s theme, “Art Informing Intellect”, seeks to engage the entire community in exploring how art is connected to the Grad at Grad principle of being Intellectually Competent. We hope to foster this connection through a variety of workshops that expose us to different forms of art.

We are looking for artists and those involved in the arts to share their talents. If you or someone you know might be interested in participating, please contact either Mrs. Elise Wilson or Mrs. Amanda Adamczyk P'21 .
Meeting Alumni in New York City and Washington, D.C.
I have been blessed to meet many of our alumni in the Big Apple and nation's capital over the past few weeks. Special thanks to Bob Lynch '67 and Dianne Brace who so generously hosted us in their beautiful home, and to Souren Ouzounian '85 for hosting us at the New York Athletic Club with Mike White '70 as our guest speaker.

While in D.C., the Jesuit Friends and Alumni Network invited me to speak at their annual fall luncheon on the importance of Jesuit education in today's society. Matt O'Donnell '16 and Bob Hunter '68 were part of the program and it was wonderful to celebrate our shared commitment to our mission. I was grateful to spend one-on-one time with local alumni, including Paul Donato '95 (Alumni Advisory Council DC Representative); whose council and feedback is always appreciated. Before we returned to Boston, Mike O'Brien, our Sr. Director of Alumni Engagement, made a quick stop at Georgetown University to take our recent grads to dinner at "The Tombs" - a favorite neighborhood restaurant on the edge of Georgetown's campus.

Eagles Flying High
You may have seen some stories about our community garner particular attention on social media this month:

  • Marine Corps General Joseph F. Dunford Jr. '73, recently finished his tenure as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and completed four decades of service to our country. We are tremendously grateful for Gen. Dunford’s model of leadership - a true inspiration to the entire BC High community. To watch his Farewell Message, visit this link.

  • UMass Medical School’s annual White Coat Ceremony featured two BC High alumni as Skelly Enabulele '13 (UMass '21) had the honor of cloaking his brother, Kevin '15 (UMass '23). Younger siblings Keith '18 and Kyle '18 are sophomores at Boston College - and might wind up following in their footsteps. We are proud of them all! To read more, visit this link.

  • Students and faculty assembled at the State House and Boston City Hall as part of the Global Climate Strike. The challenge to care for our common home has been put forth by Pope Francis, and our young men have been working to answer the call! More photos.
Fairs and Fun in McNeice Pavilion
McNeice Pavilion has been bursting with energy this month as it played host to everything from the College Fair, Freshmen and Senior Mentor activities, and the Co-Curricular Fair. Whether it is filled with 150 colleges and universities to explore, 100 clubs and co-curricular offerings, or dozens of smiling boys - it is wonderful to see this space alive in so many different ways.
