A CASE FOR WEATHER BASED IRRIGATION

The recent rain will push us close to June's average rainfall in just the first four days of the month. This will be followed by an extended late-spring warm-up and dry stretch, typical of spring's changeable weather. This variability paired with inaccurate weather forecasts makes setting irrigation controllers exceedingly difficult and often results in over or under-watering. To ensure effective watering and cost savings, many of our customers have approved the installation of Weather Based Irrigation.

Through more than a decade of experience with water conservation tools, we have found that weather-based irrigation control has a cost savings of 20-30% compared to traditional manually programmed systems. With water costs continuing to rapidly rise, installing a weather-based system seems like a no-brainer!

Previously, converting to weather-based irrigation required capital cost. Weathermatic changed the game by developing a subscription-based model for their SmartLink Wireless Landscape Network Weather Base Irrigation Control.

Pacific Landscape Maintenance has become a Weathermatic Premiere Partner allowing us to offer this as a subscription for our customers. We have promoted Weathermatic Smartlink for 4 years in Portland and as of this year have begun promoting it in Seattle as well. For a small increase in your monthly maintenance fee, you will avoid the capital installation cost and potentially save up to 30% on your irrigation water bill.

Weathermatic Smartlink makes automatic daily adjustments based on weather. It also provides cellular connection of the remote controller, giving us the ability to program and monitor from our office or a smartphone or tablet in the field.

To help the planet and your bottom line, consider switching to a weather based controller!
