New church planting catalysts join Send Network Arizona

Like newborn children, church plants need proper support to thrive; the first few years of life are often the most vulnerable. From a desire to see new churches planted and thriving, the North American Mission Board’s Send Network deploys church planting catalysts to facilitate the process.

As of recently, NAMB has appointed two new Arizona church planting catalysts: Pastors Joaquin Vargas of Iglesia Experimenta Vida in Mesa and Brian Hook of Aspire Church in Tucson. Both men will continue as pastors of their churches while also serving as CPCs.

Brandon Barrios

January 21-27

Brandon Barrios, along with his wife and four children are planting Way Family Church in Littletown — a hard-to-reach community in Tucson. Way Family Church is seeking to reach southeast Tucson for Christ, that believers may walk with Him and share Him with others. This is being accomplished through relationship building, discipleship, and community. The Barrios family is seeing God move as He continues to add to His Kingdom.

How to Pray:

  • For softened hearts in this city.
  • For strength and courage in God’s children to reach out to the lost and hurting.

Doug & Cheryl Derbyshire

January 28-February 3

Doug and Cheryl have been serving over 30 years in Thailand. Although a physician by trade, Doug’s greatest passion is sharing Christ with the many unbelieving Thais (mainly Buddist) he encounters daily. Cheryl is the head of Thai Country Trim, a company that makes handmade Christmas ornaments sold around the globe. TCT employs women throughout Thailand, many of whom are not Christ followers. This ministry provides a livable wage and shares the gospel with these ladies weekly. Thai Country Trim workers work from home and meet weekly for Bible study and worship.

How to Pray:

  • That God would give us boldness, in every opportunity He puts us in, to share His Gospel message to the Thai people.
  • That we would have wisdom as we lead our various ministries.
  • For our new church plant and our Thai Country Trim Center in Ban Pho.
