Anewalt’s Landscape and Clover Hill Winery -

A Connection with Deep Roots

A pollinator garden blooming nearby acres of vineyards easily summarizes the strong connection between Anewalt’s Landscape Contracting and Clover Hills Vineyards & Winery.

“In both businesses, there is a tremendous amount of pride in the work that we do. We care. We want to leave things better than we found them and in turn leave a positive imprint on the face of the earth,” says Kari Skrip, sister of Lori Anewalt and owner of Clover Hill along with brother, John.

Both Anewalt’s and Clover Hill share decades of commitment to providing their customers

the very best in services and products and bringing to the region their passion and love for all things outdoors.

Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery was founded in 1985 by Lori and Kari’s parents, John Jr. and Pat Skrip. The Skrip children grew up working in the vineyards where their roots for working the soil and their appreciation of what it provides began to deepen.

Kari describes hard, manual work as being an integral part of the daily chores growing up.

She said, “and that certainly teaches you a lot about how to work hard for things you want to achieve. Lori has always loved to be active, and both the vineyards and landscaping allow that to be part of her daily work.”

Although Kari says Lori is undoubtedly a people person, she believes that much of Lori’s energy and inspiration comes from being outside in nature. And the Skrip family’s devotion to hard work and the vineyards provided a strong foundation for Lori’s work as Vice President of Anewalt’s.

As the Skrips were growing Clover Hill in the 1980s, a young Eddie Anewalt was opening his own business, Anewalt’s Landscape Contracting, in 1988. Now the President of the company, Eddie married Lori who brought business skills, work ethics, and love of plants which stemmed from her family and her formative years at Clover Hill.

Decades later, Team Anewalt’s is known for its commitment to excellence, its community involvement, and its devotion to the environment and provides a wide array of services including landscape maintenance, landscape design and build, outdoor lights and décor, and commercial services.

Kari says, “Family business, commitment to quality, strong work ethic, high expectations, accountability, being a good steward of the land and community are things that were instilled in Lori from a young age by her parents John Jr. and Pat Skrip. Clover Hill became a vessel for Lori to fine tune some of these skills at a young age and then take what she had learned to Anewalt's. We are very proud of Lori and Eddie for their business longevity, commitment to quality and all of the community work they provide. “

Today, Clover Hill, led by Kari and John III, has six vineyards spreading over 80 acres in Berks and Lehigh counties, tasting rooms in Breinigsville, Robesonia, the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market, and the Boscov’s Fairgrounds Farmers Market, and produces 80,000 gallons of wine annually. The family and staff continue John Jr. and Pat’s dream which grew from those early days of growing grapes.

The pollinator garden at the Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery location in Breinigsville is emblematic of Lori’s passion project to protect the endangered pollinators by creating safe Pollinator Waystations, a service provided to Anewalt’s customers.

Protecting nature and creating beauty outdoors are common threads between Anewalt’s and Clover Hill and Kari believes the Team Anewalt’s pollinator garden, including wildflowers and sunflower patches, does even more than enhance the appearance of the winery.

“Seeing that Clover Hill Winery truly starts from the land, we place great value and emphasis on caring for our environment. The more we can do to protect and nourish our environment, the brighter our future becomes,” she says.
