Warm Hands, Warm Our Hearts!
Once again, OffiCenters will partner with hats & mittens, a local, all volunteer based non-profit, that collects and distributes new and gently used hats, mittens and scarves to the Twin Cities seven-county metro area schools, shelters, social service and youth organizations with the goal of keeping children and families warm during the cold Minnesota winters. They anticipate order requests of over 25,000 sets for the 2020-21 winter season. We know that our OneCommunity can help! MORE
Lovitude™, created by soul painter & LinkedIn Expert Anne Pryor, means Love and Gratitude inspired by spirit, the highest energy in the universe. Her paintings have been called “visual blessings”. She was inspired to paint through after death communications (ADC) by her friend. Anne has created more than 2,000 vivid images to elucidate, awaken, and activate souls using ink, her breath, and essential oils. She was not an artist before these messages. A portion of proceeds from the licensing royalties of Lovitude products and art are donated to charities. Proceeds and Lovitude donations have supported nurses, doctors, staff, and patients at the Masonic Children’s Hospital, ICA, Bridge for Youth, Simpson Homeless Shelter, PCs for People, The Food Group, diversity businesses in Minneapolis, The Black Chamber of Commerce, and many other charities. The Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund (RSCRCF) supports the cancer community in Minnesota by funding research, prevention, treatment and other programs relating to its cancer community. Their Celebrity Golf Classic began in 1995, raising $27,000. It has now grown into one of the most successful charitable golf tournaments in the state, raising more than $8 million to date. In January, 2020, they gifted over $1 million! With growing support and contributions from so many, the RSCRCF was formed in 2003 to ensure that all of the money raised would be used to fund research and cancer-related projects locally in addition to a variety of other worthy causes each year. This year, they raised just over $5,000 from the Virtual Shaver Shuffle and their Virtual Rush to the Cure raised $280,000. RSCRCF is grateful for all who have donated throughout this Pandemic! The support has been humbling.
Firefly Sisterhood's vision is a community where no one faces breast cancer alone. Their peer-mentoring program matches trained breast cancer survivors with women experiencing breast cancer, to provide a light in the darkness. During this pandemic, Firefly has pivoted to a virtual model of support, and with financial help, they expanded services based upon the response from the cancer care community because: Women diagnosed with breast cancer are going to screenings, treatments, and surgeries, ALONE, their caregivers are distraught as their loved one goes alone to their appointments and long-term survivors experience stress and anxiety from recurrence, medications, and the lack of medical oversight.
As women resume screenings after the initial pandemic pause, you or someone you love may hear, “You have breast cancer” in the coming months. We encourage you to check out their website to find out more about being matched with a peer mentor, becoming a peer mentor, or financially supporting the important work Firefly Sisterhood does in our communities.
JUSTICE4KATIE is a local non-profit dedicated to making changes, creating awareness and urging drivers to do one simple thing, PAY ATTENTION and just drive. Distracted driving is avoidable and has the ability to destroy lives, which happened to Katie in Sept. 2017. A distracted semi-truck driver was speeding with a truck thousands of pounds overweight and carelessly slammed into the back of her car. Katie never stood a chance. And there are too many more cases with the same outcome. Justice4Katie has been working every day since to make our roads safer for everyone.
Girls Taking Action continues to mentor their girls using a range of social media and virtual meeting platforms. All but one of their 25 seniors graduated on time ( 96%) and 100% of them are now in college! GTA is kicking off their weekly program for the 2020-21 school year the week of Nov. 2, and are looking for female professionals who want to volunteer to be virtual mentors. Girls Taking Action is always accepting donations to support their program. Click SUPPORTOURGIRLS to help make a difference. These are especially tough times given COVID-19 and the racial unrest prevalent in the lives of the girls who participate in the Girls Taking Action program.
Give to the Max Day on November 19th is Minnesota’s giving holiday. It is a special 24-hour period to highlight the work of nonprofits and schools all across Minnesota, and a day for us to give back what we can to the causes and organizations that mean the most to us. And as a bonus, GiveMN offers thousands of dollars in prizes to provide a little excitement, start some friendly competition, and help donors make their dollars go further. In its first 11 years, donors have given more than $190 million million to 10,000 nonprofits and schools as part of Give to the Max Day. This year, please consider one of our OneCommunity Partners.
