Friends, families and supporters—happy Friday and happy Vaccination Dose 1 Day at JFGH!

This week our e-blast will be brief, as we are all vaccination clinic planning, (seemingly) all the time. Today, we partner with CVS to begin the vaccination process for 190 people being supported by or working for JFGH. These 190 people join about 170 staff and people receiving JFGH supports already in the process (i.e., have at least received dose 1) and a further 90 staff still to begin the process. We are well on our way toward being vaccinated across JFGH.

Even as we are optimistic about vaccination and our work underway, we continue to be incredibly cautious in our continued approach to keep people we support and our staff safe and healthy. Our COVID-19 protocols remain very much in place—every credible public and community health resource continues to emphasize the need to wear masks (even double masking as an added emphasis), practice rigorous hand hygiene and keep physical/social distance. JFGH remains laser focused on these and our additional infectious disease control protocols, all of which are still being enforced.

Fortunately, we have not experienced any new or recent COVID-19 infections among folks we support. A total, since the start of the pandemic crisis in our community in March 2020, of 30 of our staff have returned positive results—this number, however slowly, continues to increase. We’ve recently had questions asked about our diagnostic staff testing protocols (we have run, at this writing, approximately 930 COVID-19 tests among our staff since the April 2020 implementation of this protocol). The purpose of our testing protocol is to identify potential carriers of the virus before they can unwittingly infect any other staff or anyone JFGH supports with the virus. To that purpose, testing is accomplishing precisely what it intends.

We continue to update our COVID-19 Vaccination Questions and Answers page on our website—we hope you’ll check there often, as it will provide current, reliable information on our approach to the vaccination process. We also hope you'll join us next Thursday, 2/11, for a live update on Facebook at 2:30pm.

Be and stay well and healthy. We got this.
