While we seek to pause to celebrate our magnificent staff, we also embrace the stark realities of the pandemic. As you know, JFGH has not been spared this wretched virus. Eight (8) people we support have tested positive for COVID-19 since the early March. Of those, three were hospitalized. One of those three remains hospitalized. The person is an unbelievable warrior and is fighting every day to return to good health. Ten (10) of our direct support professionals have also tested positive since March. Thankfully, all have been asymptomatic and have fully recovered or are recovering. I know you’ll join us in praying for continued strength for all of these people—members of the JFGH family.

Our COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund continues as we face dramatically increased costs for staff, personal protective equipment, testing and related expenses associated with this new JFGH ‘normal.’ While we are fortunate to have secured a Paycheck Protection Program Small Business Administration loan of $2.3M, it will be completely used in eight (8) weeks. Our payroll costs alone have increased by nearly 40%. We are so grateful to you and to our community for your extraordinary investments in JFGH as we navigate this crisis that is without precedent. Every investment counts and every dollar matters. Our motto here is “give until it feels GREAT!”

Finally, we’re excited to invite you to attend our first ever virtual Annual Meeting held via Zoom. We will be thanking Board President Barbara Brown for her leadership over the past two years and welcoming Eva Cowen as president. This past year, my very first year at JFGH, has been one to remember. We will take a moment celebrate the year that was, while focusing on the future. The meeting will be held 11 June 2020 at 6pm. The meeting will be held June 11, 2020 at 6pm. Registration is available here.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. We got this.
