Diabetes Awareness Month T-Shirt Design Contest!

Pump up your creativity and design a t-shirt for DYS to promote Diabetes Awareness Month this November! The shirts will be sold to raise money for DYS. The design will go on the front of our t-shirts and the contest is open to youth no older than 18 who live with type 1 diabetes in our 34 county service area. The winning design will be chosen by several DYS board members and the winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card along with a free t-shirt. All entries must be received by Friday, September 11. Designs should be emailed to [email protected] or if hand drawn, dropped off or mailed to the DYS office. If you choose to hand draw a design do not fold it. DYS 2020 Connection Gala  You are invited to The DYS 2020 Connection Gala on Friday, November 13th at 7:00 pm. The Gala is DYS's largest fundraiser of the year and one of the reasons we can offer our school services for free and our programs/camps for such a reasonable price. Did you know DYS never turns anyone away for financial reasons? This year the need for participation is even more important than usual because we had to cancel four other events due to Covid-19.The entire Gala will be virtual and will include great silent and live auction items. Please let us know if you have an item (i.e., gift basket, restaurant certificate, vacation house/condo, event tickets) that you would like to donate to the event. In the meantime, mark your calendar and stay tuned for information on how to register to participate in this fun evening event.

DYS Family Fun Scavenger Hunt Looking for a fun activity that your whole family can enjoy? Gather your family together and join DYS for a family fun virtual scavenger hunt Saturday, September 19 from 4:00 pm- 5:30 pm! We have put together gift baskets and Amazon gift cards for the top four winning families. We will have many different rounds with the items getting harder and the points getting higher for some great competition. DYS Board Nominees DYS 2021 Board Nominating Committee is currently seeking people to be considered to serve on our board of directors. We are interested in talking with people who can enhance our current board skill set including a fundraiser mindset/connector, community leader, a tie to a T1D, local communications professional, etc. Do you know of a business influencer who lives in one of our counties that could help us network to increase DYS name and/or donor recognition? Is there someone who you know who has a tie to T1D? Do you know of a development person who would be an asset? Or someone with great marketing/communication skills? If so, please send their name, where they live, where they work, if they have a T1D connection, unique skill set they could bring to the board and contact information to [email protected]. The nominating committee will meet on September 21 to discuss potential candidates and ask some of them to submit an application.
