We won the CEDRR Trivia Challenge!
|
|
Team Casella Construction, comprised of Team Leader Nicole Webster and players Jen Powers, Brittany Hall, Phil Hall and Kieran Keefe represented Casella Construction in the first ever "Beat the COVID Blues" Zoom Trivia Challenge, hosted by the Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region.
For five weeks, the team competed against eight other teams, bringing their A-game and wealth of knowledge to win a weekly prize gift certificate to a local restaurant. Our team held their own, scoring in the top 2 for four out of the five weeks!
The final showdown took place on April 21st. Team Killington was a tough competitor but in the end, they weren't able to overcome Casella Construction's lead!
The team's winnings included $1,000 total! $50 each to Franklin's, $50 each to Baxter’s, and the grand prize for winning the whole tournament - $100 each to a participating restaurant of choice: Franklin's, Roots, Little Harry's, Baxter's, or The Palm's!
Congrats to everyone, thank you for playing and representing us so well! Enjoy your prizes!

Safety Topic: Trenching Tips
|
|
Recently we had a spotter identify an issue with a trench that was 4 feet deep and benched correctly, but appeared that it was beginning to separate.
The spotter warned the person inside of the trench and prompted them to exit the area and fix it. Shortly after that, a small portion of the benching slid into the trench.
This situation highlights a few different areas that we should always remember when trenching:
|
|
-
Make sure to have adequate shielding, shoring, sloping, and means of egress in every trench.
-
Never assume that any trench will hold its form - even in shallow trenches that can be exited quickly.
-
Spotters should always make sure to stay vigilant of everything going on around them, including the integrity of the trench.
