Egregious Error.
In last weeks edition, we made a horrific error.

We did not correctly identify the great Serra lineman Kenneth Thomas '90.
Consider that 2 former Serra linemen proofed the article, it is especially embarrassing.

There is another error. Tom Reidt '57 wrote to tell us Bob Easton graduated in '58. He did graduate in '58 and went on to play with Roger Staubach at the Naval Academy.

Thank you to all who contacted us.

John & Joan McFarland and the Ask!
After honoring Dwan Hurt '81 and Norm Chavez at our first two Dedication to Excellence Gala's, we honored Mr. John McFarland in 2014.

Mr. McFarland left a lasting impression on the Serra students of the '60s. "I've attended Berkley, Hastings, Harvard and the National University of Ireland. Mr. McFarland was, by far, the best teacher I ever had." -William McCann '64.

John and Joan McFarland in their 5001 Club jackets.

Soon after the Dedication and a campus visit,  Mr. McFarland called and told us he and Joan, his wife, wished to establish a scholarship for promising students who needed help. We established the scholarship as requested.  For 7 years since,
the McFarland's have funded a full scholarship plus a little more.
From Mr. McFarland, "It sank in that what we were doing at Serra was not only fun, it was important. Hugely important."  This line is from an essay Mr. McFarland wrote for the Old Timers/Legends Reunion in 2016. Click here to read the essay. Anyone connected with Serra in any era will find why Serra High School has always been and continues to be "Hugely important."  We think many of you will want to forward this.
From some Alumni, Teachers, Coaches and Administrators.  It's Almost Over! It's up to each of us.
We think you are all aware of the 80K Match opportunity. For those who have never donated or have not donated since September 1, 2019, every $1.00 donated up to $80k through 11/13/20, a Foundation will match the $1.00 with another $1.00.
100% return is a decent return.

We are a little over 40k now. We have been able to help quite a few students already. Click Here to see Alumni Scholarship requirements and Click Here to donate. If you would like to donate to other than Alumni Scholarships...... a department, an athletic team, or ? tell us and it will be used as you direct.

John (Johnny Mac) and Joan McFarland, Charles Donovan, The Count,

asking you to support Serra and the 80K Match by Clicking Here to make a donation or by buying your ALL HAIL! Card or getting your Alumni Tile. (We need 8 more tiles to place the next group of tiles on the wall.)
