Dear Landmarks Illinois Community:
After 14 memorable years with Landmarks Illinois, it is time for me to begin a new chapter. As we announced in May, I received a 2027 Loeb Fellowship from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and will step down as President & CEO. My last day with the organization is this Friday, July 24.
I am filled with gratitude as I reflect on my tenure here at Landmarks Illinois. Together with our passionate staff, courageous board members, dedicated supporters and countless partners, we have worked to redefine preservation as an effective and accessible tool for thriving communities. Our successes belong to us all.
We have moved preservation forward in ways I could never have imagined when I joined Landmarks Illinois in 2012. Through our bold Transformational Plan, Landmarks Illinois has strengthened its presence as a thought leader in our field. We have sparked a national conversation about progressive preservation to celebrate cultural heritage and advance social justice, sustainability, housing accessibility and economic opportunity. Thank you for supporting our work to preserve places and serve the people of Illinois.
I depart Landmarks Illinois knowing its future is in excellent hands. Guided by our exceptional Interim President & CEO Frank Butterfield, Chair Ron Clewer and Vice Chair Catherine Baker, the organization is well positioned to build on the momentum we’ve created. While I helped to envision a relevant future for Landmarks Illinois and preservation practice, those implementing the vision are the true changemakers. If you have been inspired by what we have accomplished together, I invite you to invest in Landmarks Illinois, as I will, as a donor and continuing preservation champion. Your support is a meaningful investment in the future of this organization and will ensure that what we have created continues to thrive.
While my time with Landmarks Illinois is ending, my commitment to preservation and the incredible people who make this work possible is not. I am excited to further explore and evolve preservation into a relevant, accessible practice that solves today’s challenges.
