Lewis E. Brazelton, III

August 2, 1940 - November 29, 2024

Tau brother Lewis "Lew" Brazelton '59 passed away on November 29 at age 84. Lew had a long and highly successful career as a financial advisor, including positions with Merrill Lynch in New York, Rauscher Pierce (and successor companies), and Morgan Stanley.

A Houston native and star high school athlete, he earned a baseball scholarship to UT Austin and played first baseman for the Longhorns in three College World Series. He pledged Kappa Sigma and remained close to many of his Tau brothers throughout his life.

"Big Lew was an incredible person and leader of the Kappa Sigs," said Monk White '61. "He was always ready to listen and help in any way he could. He will be missed."

Lew will also be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, man of faith and integrity, loyal friend, and enthusiastic contributor to many charitable and civic organizations.

He is survived by his four children: Lewis Brazelton IV and his wife, Cindie; Shelley Bracken and her husband, Geoff; West Brazelton and his wife, Mary; Fred Brazelton and his wife, Jessica; and ten grandchildren.

His memorial service was held in Houston on December 9.
