Our brothers and sisters with dis-ABILITIES, the aged and ill increasingly confront publicly sanctioned deadly violence in NY. The 2025 Medical Aid in Dying Act (MAID) presents an imminent threat to NY’s horizon. In states where Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) is legal, there is documented evidence that patients — including the elderly and disabled — are being denied insurance coverage for treatment and instead offered assisted suicide.

New York’s current MAID bill raises serious safety concerns. It allows potentially abusive caregivers to legally witness the MAID request, pick up the lethal prescription, and even administer the deadly drugs, because witnesses are not required at the time of administration. MAID also has broader social impacts. Women are more likely to be affected than men, and its legalization is associated with increased overall suicide rates, including non-assisted suicides. These concerns are especially urgent as suicide rates in New York and across the U.S. are at historic highs, with a troubling rise in suicides among young children.

A culture of death continues to knock at our doors. Yes, the law is a teacher, but POLITICS is downstream of CULTURE. Polling repeatedly shows the majority of people in NY generally support assisted suicide and abortion access. The grassroot electorate is hungry for information regarding the impacts of killing, and the inhumane processes thereof. Unless accurate, opposing perspectives and data are provided, misinformation will unequally shape opinion, especially when fueled by well-financed special interests.

Feminists Choosing Life of New York (FCLNY) refuses to ignore the effects of violence on others or our duty of care to those around us, in the name of self-determinism and individual autonomy. We are following in the footsteps of our feminist foremothers, promoting nonviolence and justice toward every member of the human family, no matter how young or old, disabled, sick or poor. The whole-life, pro-life feminist movement is growing in NY, and we’re leading the charge. FCLNY stands uniquely positioned to influence both culture and policy, not only because we are nonpartisan, transcending politics, but because we are consistent, opposing every form of state- sanctioned lethal violence, from womb to tomb– abortion, assisted suicide, euthanasia, war and capital punishment.  

As a tax-exempt non-profit, we are tasked first and foremost with re-shaping culture. We dive in, at both the grassroots and institutional levels, exposing caustic impacts and helping outline a better way forward.

Our Media Outreach initiative is our most notable, We thoughtfully tailor commentary to address NY’s most urgent life issues, including matters of life and death enshrined within proposed and enacted laws. We deliberately target diverse audiences.

So far this year, reporters and news outlets have published and aired our PRO-WOMAN, PRO-LIFE VOICES across NY on topics ranging from government funded abortion and baby bonuses, to abortion bans, paid maternal leave, Planned Parenthood defunding and assisted suicide.

Our grassroot campaigns have been rocking! FCLNY’s radio ads on LIFE topics continue to reach both secular and religious audiences, among key demographics, and in ripe geographical areas. In 2025, a multitude of radio stations around NY have aired our cutting edge Public Service Announcements (PSAs), including WRVO (89.9 FM), WRVH (89.3 FM), WRVN (91.9 FM), WRVJ (91.7 FM), WMVQ (90.5 FM), WRCU (90.1 FM), WSUC (90.5 FM), WFUV (90.7 FM), WSIA (88.9 FM), WFCR (89.9 FM), WINS (92.3 FM), WLOF (101.7 FM), WHIC (1460 AM), and WTMI (88.7 FM).

We are excited to launch our Billboard Campaign this year. But we need your financial help. We want to showcase our most popular ones, below, and create new ones.  Every day counts. Every person matters. An effectively placed billboard has the capacity to reach tens of thousands of people, residents that vote, with open minds and hearts. The cost ranges from $2k to $10k, depending on location, for a 4 week flight.

LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY

Your support has empowered us to help thwart the passage of NY’s Medical Aid in Dying Act (MAID). Though it passed in the NY Legislature, the bill (S138) has YET to be delivered to Governor Hochul. The Governor must officially receive the final certified bill by December 31, 2025, and sign it by January 30, 2026 at the latest (by custom and consistent practice) in order to legalize MAID. 

The NY Legislature could deliver the bill to Governor Hochul before December 31st. Once received, Hochul has only 30 days to either: (1) sign (2) 'return veto' or (3) 'pocket veto' MAID. A pocket veto ensues if the Governor ignores the bill for 30 days, once delivered to her.

The fate of MAID is uncertain. 

If you haven’t already- please reach out to Governor Hochul, and ask her to oppose MAID, S138, with a return or pocket veto, if sent to her in 2025.

Along with the New York State Alliance Against Assisted Suicide, and many other incredible groups, including the NY Association on Independent Living and the Center for Disability Rights, we coordinated and implemented a strategic campaign to keep assisted suicide from becoming legal NY. We met with key elected officials in Albany in April, filled a bus in May to meet with more and to demonstrate with signs in the halls of the Capitol. We created and printed 1,500 anti-MAID postcards for colleagues to sign and mail to Albany, organized targeted phone-a-thons, sent out numerous email blasts with vital researched talking points, asking folks to urge elected officials to vote no to MAID.  We wrote, posted and distributed an OPEN LETTER opposing MAID as well as engaged in focused media outreach, referenced above. We are deeply grateful to everyone working together on this effort to help us defeat MAID in NY.  

Together we represent the HOPE our state needs. We need you to accomplish our goals. The costs of our advocacy work add up, printed legislative packets and postcards, transportation to and from Albany, and so much more.

COMMUNITY ENCOUNTERS

We’ve partnered with allied organizations fighting for life, locally and nationally, to address the distresses vulnerable populations face, and to spread the power of the consistent life ethic. Some of these incredible groups include the Beckett Fund, the Margaret Home,  the Human Life Review, Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Americans to Abolish Death Penalty, Chesterton Academy, the Pro-Life Action League, Created Equal, Live Action, Americans United for Life, Good Counsel, St. Bernard’s School, the Gandhi Institute, and so many other wonderful nonprofit organizations. We had the opportunity to engage in a live-streamed interview about the pressing needs of mothers in crisis and what we can do to help, with Good Counsel’s media/YouTube team, speak with leaders from across the country, at the closing of New York City’s largest Planned Parenthood, and present live updates on NY’s pending MAID bill at St. Bernard’s webinar on assisted suicide and euthanasia. 

Markedly, we joined forces with activists to issue a press release and organize a protest, at a newly opened NY Planned Parenthood, calling for its defunding, along with all Planned Parenthoods (PP) in the U.S. that provide abortions. In February, the New York Times reported loud and clear that PP spends more resources on lobbying in Washington, D.C. than on providing services for women, annually offering less than 1% of its services for pap tests and breast exams, while performing 42% of all annual abortions in the U.S. In early April the federal government cut $65 million from Title X family planning funding, affecting PP affiliates across the country. 

We had the privilege of attending the 2025 March for Life in Washington, D.C, with so many others, and to widely distribute our “Stand Up & Be Counted” palm cards, “Chemical Abortion Harms Women” petition cards, signs and brochures.

We are heading to the NYS Fair in Syracuse again, to meet and greet people at our table. Our time at the fair last year was phenomenal! We are excited to dialogue on the issues that matter from a whole-life feminist perspective, pass out our materials, including our resource indexes, and grow the pro-life, consistent-life movement in NY. We will also be selling our t-shirts, buttons, stickers and totes from our FCLNY Shop, a sure way to carry our message forward! PROJECTS THAT EMPOWER

This summer we’re gearing up to work with a team of volunteers to post more of the Domestic Violence and Sex Trafficking Hotline Posters in health care facilities and abortion clinics, state-wide. Healthcare providers are "one of the few professionals likely to interact" with victims of domestic violence and sex trafficking (DVAST), women who experience an increased risk of coerced abortions. Survivors of DVAST make up a sizable percentage of abortion clinic clients. Hotlines help release women from DVAST and serve to reduce abortion rates.

FILM INVOLVEMENT

FCLNY had the extraordinary privilege of being invited to participate in a film about feminism, last year. The producers of the film are award -winning and based in Australia. One of the directors of the film, titled Girls & Gods, said this about the film, “We wanted to make an uplifting film. We know how much suffering there is, so we wanted to celebrate women’s empowerment and give some space to all of these women who are actually revolutionizing our society… .” FCLNY recently reached out to the producers asking when we could view the documentary, and a junior producer said this, “The film had its world premiere [March 23, 2025] at one of the most important international documentary film festivals, the CPH:Dox in Copenhagen. It is now competing in the Human Rights section.” She assured us our interview made the final cut, and also wrote this, “On behalf of the whole team, we would like to thank you again for your support and for the interesting and at the same time warm-hearted interview.” The film team has assured FCLNY they will alert us of the documentary’s U.S. release date. SCHOLARLY EVENTS

Our quarterly FCLNY Book & Film Club is growing!! People from around the world participated in our last virtual club, that discussed the dangers of the abortion pill, based on “The Case Against the Abortion Pill,” published in First Things. Dr. Catherine Wheeler said this, “I did listen to your event … . What a deeply thoughtful, fascinating discussion, with open dialogue and curiosity. I greatly benefited from hearing from so many brilliant women and their specific assessments and experience.”

We also hosted a Salon earlier this year that discussed Nuclear Weapons. People on both sides of this topic dialogued, and Joshua, a recent high school graduate who weighed in said this about his experience, “What a refreshing conversation about the very real and present force that nuclear weapons pose now and in the future. Everyone conversing curbed their dogmas, and shared an end goal for truth.”

FCLNY organized and hosted our winter webinar, titled,  "Canceling Female Fertility: How Campus Culture Devalues Women by Devaluing Motherhood." We are so thankful to all who joined us and to Dr. Alisia Chase from SUNY Brockport and Dr. Sarah Hamersma from Syracuse University for engaging in such an informative and productive discussion. 

We are confident that as we continue to raise awareness about matters of life and death, including the nuances involved, life will prevail in NY. While anti-life forces appear to dominate in our state, they are dissipating elsewhere,   and even here they are becoming less grim, as the pro-life, whole-life feminist movement expands its light and hope, because of you.
