Pat Burke
President
Happy New Year to all!
It’s with excitement and honor that I start 2026 as the President of the Redwood Region! I would like to thank our membership for trusting me with this position. We also have a strong Executive Team in place with Jeff Hall as Vice President, Eileen Gaines as Secretary, Don Magdanz as Treasurer and Sharon Neidel as Past President. Your region is in very good and capable hands.
I would like to thank David Bunch for his years of being the editor of our newsletter, der Riesenbaum. David was in the position for three years and we can’t thank him enough for his time as editor.
I have the privilege to introduce Connor Newton, who comes to us from the San Diego Region, as the new newsletter editor for the der Riesenbaum. Connor will be a great addition to the team!
Our calendar for the year is panning out to be a very busy one, with some long-time events that everyone continues to love such as the Run for the Crab (on February 21), Porsches on the Plaza, our Concours, and the annual Holiday Party. There are several mid-week tours being planned and the possibility of multi-day trips to SoCal and up north into Humboldt County. Keep an eye on our website calendar as the year progresses.
We are always looking for volunteers to help our region, and we would love to have you join us at a monthly Board meeting, which are held on the last Tuesday of every month at Torches Restaurant in Petaluma starting at 6:30PM. We would like to see you there and your dinner will be on us!
I also ask for your input. Feel free to contact me with anything that is on your mind for our region. Any ideas, events or concerns are welcome. You can reach me at redwoodpcapres@gmail.com.
Thank You,
Pat Burke

Connor Newton
der Riesenbaum Editor
Hello Redwood Region! My name is Connor Newton and I’ll be taking over from David Bunch as editor of der Riesenbaum for 2026. I recently moved up to Redwood Region from San Diego, and figured that volunteering as the newsletter editor would be a great way to meet people in the new region!
I first joined PCA as a Junior member in 2019, and was able to become a full member the following year with the purchase of my 1st Porsche, a 1999 Boxster which I quickly modified for autocross and track duty. The latest addition to my sports car stable is a 2007 Cayman S in Speed Yellow, purchased from a PCA member in Riverside. Professionally, I work as an archaeologist, and my ’18 Macan GTS works surprisingly well for transport to often treacherous job sites.
My partner, Elizabeth, and I enjoyed meeting many of you at the annual Holiday Party in December. Shoutout to Paige Gaines and Katherine Zimmer-Burke for many great photos! Those are now available on the region’s Flickr page.
I look forward to continuing the tradition of editorial excellence that has been established by my predecessors. One goal of mine for this year is to receive article submissions from a greater variety of members. So, send in a story this year! Tell me about your first Porsche. How did you find your latest one? How did you get involved with the PCA? Share your stories with the club, because “it’s not just the cars, it’s the people!” Feel free to email me at redtreeed@gmail.com.
I am happy to be a Redwoodie and I look forward to what this year will bring!

Vice President
Happy New Year Redwood Region!
As 2026 dawns, I’m happy and excited to serve as your new Vice President! Pat Burke and I plan to build on a successful 2025 and make the new year even better.
At the November Planning Meeting we put initial plans in place for lots of exciting events throughout the year! Efforts in planning our annual schedule will be ongoing throughout the year and we welcome the ideas and support of our members. We’d like to make 2026 a busy year with midweek events as well as our usual weekend activities!
We have scheduled several rallies and group driving tours to wineries in our region. In October we’ll once again hold our annual Concours in Sonoma Town Square, and our annual Holiday Party will be back in December.
Our “Run for the Crab” event is on Saturday, February 21st. Once again, we’ll begin with a driving tour through west Marin County ending at the Marin Yacht Club for a fabulous local Dungeness Crab feed with all the fixings!!! This event sells out quickly every year. Registration will open soon and I hope to see you there!
We’re always looking for new ideas for events and value our members’ input. If you have an idea for an event, please email me directly. One of our goals for 2026 is to get more involvement from members in planning and executing events! I’m proud to say we already have several “new” planners hard at work putting some new and exciting events together – more to come on this!
Please check our website calendar for our “ever changing” list of 2026 events.
I am extremely honored to be your Region’s Vice President, and I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming 2026 events and, if we haven’t met, please introduce yourself. I’d love to meet you!
You can always email me directly with any questions at halljeffrey@mac.com.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Thank you!

Uncle Ferry wants you to join the P.O.S.S.E
8am to 10am
Starbucks at the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center, Novato
All Porsches are invited to the Porsche Owners Sunday Social Event, every 4th Sunday of the month.
This is an opportunity for Porsche owners to have an informal get-together, at a North Bay location, before going to brunch, heading to the hills, cruising to the coast… or, wherever one wishes to drive that day. It’s a chance to meet and talk to your fellow Porsche owners. It’s a chance to put names and faces with the cars. It’s a chance to show off your ride!

What could be a better way to start the New Year, in this case 2026, than a morning meet-up with fellow Porsche owner/enthusiasts followed by a brisk drive on the winding roads of Napa and Solano counties terminating at a legendary drive-in restaurant in St. Helena? Maybe the identical itinerary with a little less liquid sunshine!
The meetup occurred at the Napa Vault location generously lent by the facilities management. The usual pre-drive get-together and driver’s meeting took place in the Vault’s indoor and warm clubhouse. Through the courtesy of the Vault and

Far Niente Winery, many of the cars from Far Niente’s collection at the Vault were accessible to Fun Run attendees. As the Fun Runners set out at through the rain it was noted that there were more Cayennes and Macans than are typically on these drives and the tops on any cabriolets that dared to show up were firmly locked in the closed position.
Three groups of cars left the Vault and then made their way across Jameson Canyon Rd., Suisun Valley Rd., Wooden Valley Rd., Monticello Rd., Capell Valley Rd., Sage Valley Rd., Lower Chiles Valley Rd., Chiles Pope Valley Rd., Howell Mountain Rd., Silverado Trail and Pope Street. As can be ascertained by the names of many of the roads traveled, there were plenty of curves to test Porsche wet weather handling.
On arrival at the final destination, Gott’s Roadside, PCA-RR members were directed to a reserved parking area adjacent to our designated covered and heated picnic area. Although sweaters and warm jackets were still the preferred fashion, most of the hardy Fun Runners hung out and rehashed the morning’s events with their fellow driving enthusiasts.

Ben Davoren, Redwood Charity Liaison Emeritus
My fellow Redwoodies: Thank you for a great run as I make my way off of the Executive Council and transition to your “Way Past President." Sharon Neidel will be capably stepping into the Past President role that really does help maintain continuity for our Board.
December has always been our biggest charitable contribution month, in concert with the holiday season, and this year your annual club dues and our Porsches on the fundraiser allowed us to donate a total of $8000 to local charities. That’s the most we have ever given, so thank you for your support!

As you can see in the photos, Stuttgart Santa made a few stops before the Holiday Party. At the Redwood Empire Food Bank, Chief Development Officer Breanne Beseda got a chance to check out Santa’s Sapphire Blue sleigh while accepting a check for $2000. We’ll have another Charity Adventure Day at their fine facility on Thursday April 30th. Look for an MSR signup page to show up in February.
At Homeward Bound of Marin, Santa got to see our club’s entry on the Veterans Wall of Honor in the veterans housing complex they completed in 2024; we gave our first donation

specifically for it back then. You’ll see (just under the $1500 envelope that Development Director Corry Kanzenberg is receiving) that we are named in the last spot on the list, really great visibility! Look for another opportunity to show up in person at their second “Trunk-or-Treat” Halloween event this fall.
At our own holiday party, we were fortunate to have our primary charity CASA’s Board President on hand. Joanne Brown is actually a prior Porsche owner (both 911 and 912) so she fit right into the group as we presented her with a check for $3000 to support CASA’s outstanding mission to advocate for disadvantaged youth in Sonoma County.

You all helped generously with our Toys for Tots donation boxes at the party, and we were able to add $500 in cash, plus a little extra through a subsidy from PCA National. Many thanks to newly-minted VP Jeff Hall for coordinating this great relationship.
Finally, we have once again helped the Rohnert Park Tech High Robotics Team engineer this year’s Battle Bot. Our $1000 will hopefully lead to new defensive technology for our future Porsches.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good drive!

Vice President
Thanks to our members and our sponsors, Porsche Marin, Auto Sport Detailing, Santa Rosa Auto Body, Hi-Tec Auto-motive and Autobahn Automotive, we collected approximately 200 toys and books that will help make the Holidays better for over 1300 families in Sonoma, Marin and Napa Counties. This is the fourth annual Toys for Tots toy drive and, all told, the Redwood Region has contributed almost 1000 toys for the kids!
I’m also happy to report that Redwood donated $500 to the Toys for Tots program. By conducting this program, the region qualified for a $750 subsidy from PCA National! We added that to our contribution for a total cash donation of $1250!
The Salvation Army of Santa Rosa distributes all toys, books and bicycles for the Toys for Tots program. If you have never visited the facility in Santa Rosa it is a sight to behold. The sheer number of gifts, the organization and the logistics to distribute the toys is nothing short of amazing!
| | The Macan is filled to the brim with the 2nd wave of donations from our sponsors! | Just a small snapshot of donated toys organized and being prepared for parents to come in to shop for their kids! | | Mike LaFrenais and Jeff Hall, Co-Sponsorship Chairs, about to deliver the first wave of Toys for Tots gifts to the Salvation Army for distribution! | | |

Stacy O'Connell
Autocross Director
2025 turned out to be a really fun year for Redwood's Autocross program. One of our big wins was hosting a Redwood autocross at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. When a date change caused a conflict for ESCA, we were able to fill in and have our first autocross in Sonoma in years! We had 55 drivers and great energy all day – it was a huge success!
We also hosted two events at Thundershill with our sister region, SVR. We'll be back there again in April and October of this year.
Looking ahead, we hope to secure more Redwood dates at the Sonoma Fairgrounds while continuing to participate in ESCA's events. (They welcome PCA member drivers!).
Redwood drivers can also take advantage of the Zone 7 Autocross series, which includes 8-10 events run by regions within Zone 7. The series is open to drivers of all experience levels and offers plenty of chances to drive, learn, and connect – and to earn some year-end bragging rights.
If you've been curious about autocross but haven't tried it yet, consider this your nudge. It's low-pressure, lots of fun, and instructors are always available -- whether you're there to learn, improve, or just enjoy your car.
We're excited about what's next and hope to see even more Redwood members trying to avoid cones in 2026!
Feel free to email me with any questions about our program.

2025. It’s come and gone, and with it the holiday season (I hope yours was great). Even the 1/1 Fun Run is in the recent past. On to 2026 and more memorable Porsche/PCA Redwood Region events.
To keep up to date on Region events our monthly emailed “der Riesenbaum” newsletter, (which you are reading!) is always a great way to find out what is upcoming with the club. It also has great stories and photos from events that occurred during the previous month. Another great source to learn about upcoming events is the Region’s website. You can access it by clicking on: Redwood Region .

This January Membership Report addresses changes that occurred during the past month of December. I have also included the data tables for November as der Riesenbaum does not publish in December. At the end of December our Redwood Region had a total of 1,188 Members/Co-members (765 Primary Members and 423 Affiliate/Co-Members), 12 of whom joined PCA and the Redwood Region in December. In December we also had 3 members transfer in from other regions, with no one transferring out. We currently have 18 Active Test Drive Participants. Three of these signed up in December. We continue working to help these Test Drive Participants find their dream Porsches and convert to full membership.
If you are an active primary member and haven’t named a co-member, don’t forget that, except for the hard copy Panorama magazine that arrives in your mailbox, your co-member can have almost all of the benefits of a full membership; at no extra charge! Your designated co-member will also receive their very own PCA Redwood Region name badge, free of charge!
Thirty-one of our Redwood Region members celebrated their five year, or more, PCA Membership Anniversaries in December. We can’t forget them. They are all shown in the table above. In December there was a tie for our longest continuous member. The tie goes to Jon Lail and past region president Sharon Neidel. They each have been members for an impressive 51 years; first having joined PCA in 1974. John can be seen driving his 911 Carrera up and down the twisties on Howell Mountain and Sharon can be seen using the expansiveness of her white Cayenne to good use carrying supplies for PCA-RR events!
Forty-eight, yes 48, of our Region members will be celebrating their five year, or more, PCA Membership anniversaries in January. This month Mr. Bob Sherwood is the undisputed champion for our longest continuous member. Bob has been a PCA member for an impressive 55 years; having joined PCA in 1971. John can be seen driving his 1968 912 out and about the highways and byways of Santa Rosa.
