Cindy Bautista-Thomas, Graduate Center ’21, was inspired to become a social work educator through her experiences as an Afro-Latina and the representation she saw among faculty of color at CUNY's Graduate Center. She serves as the co-founder of Velocity Visions Inc. and a doctoral lecturer at CSI. Cindy looks forward to helping students tap into their hidden potential and disrupt systems of inequity and oppression.
Cindy's advice: “Make sure that you are prioritizing your body, mind and soul wellness. Do things that will fill your cup continuously, things that make you feel connected and joyful. You want to give and be of service from a place of overflow, not from a place of deficit. Self-care is your right, and (it is) necessary to grow and flourish.”
The holidays provide a great opportunity to reach out to old colleagues, professors and mentors. Make a list of people you'd like to reconnect with and start messaging them now!
