During the 187th Annual Dinner, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce awarded its prestigious Josiah Marvel Cup to Gary R. Stockbridge. Gary Stockbridge spent nearly 40 years in the energy industry—almost 25 of them were in Delaware where he dedicated himself to bettering both his company and community. ... Stockbridge joined Delmarva Power in 1997 and was named region president of Delmarva Power in 2005 until his retirement in 2021. ... “It is rare to find someone who possesses strong intellectual prowess with a heart of gold—I knew he was always someone to count on,” said Ambassador Jack A. In a surprise announcement at the 187th Annual Dinner, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce presented The Honorable Robert L. Byrd with the esteemed Dick DiSabatino Award. The Dick DiSabatino Award, named for former DSCC Chair Richard DiSabatino Sr., was established in the mid-1990s to recognize significant contributions to shape opinion and public policy in the state of Delaware. With the old shopping destination on Augustine Cut Off long closed, passing drivers likely don’t give the building complex much thought. But in the former Wanamaker’s Department Store..., world-class scientists are busy in labs testing future treatments for cancer and other diseases. These teams of chemists and biologists at Incyte are dreaming up compounds the world has never seen that may someday change lives.

“They’re creating new chemical structures that did not previously exist in nature with the goal of improving the lives of patients,” says Incyte Chairman and CEO Hervé Hoppenot. Read more >

Delaware is the first state in the country to get a drug named after it!

"Incyte's newest drug, sold under the brand name of Zynyz, was approved by the FDA in 2023 to treat a rare, aggressive, and often fatal form of skin cancer called Merkel cell carcinoma. ... Zynyz's full, official name? Retifanlimab-dlwr.

"So the four letters D, L, W, R. So guess where it's coming from?" Hoppenot said to the assembled crowd, looking somewhere between amused and proud."
