The countdown to the REAL ID deadline is underway. Beginning May 3, 2023, state-issued identification that airline passengers present at TSA screening checkpoints for boarding a commercial flight must be REAL ID compliant.

Amberley Village held its annual One Stop Drop on Sunday, May 1 at Amberley Green. Approximately 500 cars attended the event, which took nearly 60 hours of volunteer work to coordinate.
Run by the Amberley Village Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC), totals for the 9th Annual One Stop Drop collected a whopping 37,749 pounds of electronics, paper, clothing and home goods. And while these numbers were slightly down when compared to the September event, with only 7 months since the last event (postponed due to COVID-19), percentages reflect Amberley Village residents are as committed to recycling as ever!
Residents who attended the event and have not yet filled out the survey are asked to click and complete it below. The survey takes just a few moments to fill out (5 questions) and helps event coordinators adapt and improve the event each year.
Chairpersons for this year's One Stop Drop were again Pete Duffy and Kathie Kraemer. "Thanks to the Environmental Stewardship Committee, the volunteers and Village staff," said Kraemer, "along with all the recyclers for making this available to the community!"

In Search of Greener Pastures:
Eco-Friendly Lawn Care
|
|
Amberley Village Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC) has been discussing more eco-friendly lawn care practices in order to counter the following undesired effects of modern lawncare practices:
Modern methods of lawncare maintenance produce more greenhouse gases than they absorb.
Current lawncare practices contribute to fading insect population, and insects are necessary to pollinate the crops we rely on for food.
Residential lawns require more irrigation water than any agricultural crop grown in the country.
There are many ways in which conscientious homeowners can achieve better environmental results while keeping their yards and lawns looking beautiful. Among them are to reduce pesticide use, switch to organic lawn treatments, and keep your grass mowing height high.
To find out more, residents are encouraged to search Google: Tips for Eco Friendly Lawn Care
