A Volunteer's Reflection

In my past 8 months at Amigos I’ve learned so many things. At first everything seemed a little chaotic and I didn’t know where I stood and how I felt and the culture shock was very real. However, as the weeks went on, it started to feel more like home.

Firstly, I’m very thankful for our volunteer community. My community members challenge me, encourage me, and help me become better each day. What a blessing to have made such close friends here in Honduras, and to think that they were complete strangers to me 8 months ago!

Another blessing has been my 4th grade students. At the beginning of the school year, I didn’t feel ready to be a lead teacher. However, my students have given me so much grace. I’m amazed at how well they care for each other, their willingness to forgive, and their generosity.

I am excited to see what the next 4 months here at Amigos have in store for me! Please keep us all in your prayers!
