SBS in Brief

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) awarded three Sawyer Business School marketing professors a two-year research grant to study how college students across the Commonwealth are influenced by advertising for the sports-betting industry. The study’s findings could potentially affect future policy decisions by the MGC, says Professor Jane Zhu, lead researcher of the team, which also includes Professor Müjde Yuksel and Professor Andrew Smith.

Healthcare Administration Professor Erin Sullivan is part of a Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital (BWH) team that is conducting research to help improve physician well-being and enhance patient care. Working with a $1 million grant, the new Center for Physician Experience and Practice Excellence at BWH launches amidst recent studies demonstrating that six in ten physicians often have feelings of burnout, and that turnover attributable to burnout is associated with hundreds of millions of dollars in excess healthcare spending annually.
