Asking for help requires a level of vulnerability that pushes even the best of us out of our comfort zone. Families who visit our JFS Kosher Food Pantries are treated with compassion and dignity as our staff ensures they have vital food and resources to ease their situation.
"Your support helps tremendously," notes Mrs. A. "I appreciate being treated like a person, like a human, despite my circumstance." Mrs. A visits our pantry to ensure her daughter, who sustained traumatic injuries a few years ago and requires her mother's care, has enough to eat and the personal care products for her daily needs.
In addition to food distribution, an integral part of our services is providing referrals to essential resources. While JFS often provides referrals for low-cost medical equipment, a recent donation of a mobility walker turned out to be a huge benefit to Mrs. A who came in with a cane on her last visit.
"I am pleasantly surprised and grateful. I came in with this (a cane) and leaving with that (a mobility walker). Being on a fixed income, my priority is my daughter never on me--so this means a lot."
Due to space limitations, JFS is unable to accept all items donated, however, staff provides referrals on where and how to donate goods to the right organizations or to the right hands.
As visits to our Kosher Food Pantries continue to increase, it is more and more challenging to keep our shelves stocked. Please consider a donation or food drive to help us feed our community; see our food drive flyer or donate online. If you or someone you know is in need of food or other essential services, please call 732-777-1940 or email office@jfsmiddlesex.org. Thank you!
