Vallejo, CA - A year-long investigation culminated with the FBI, ATF, and the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) executed multiple arrests and search warrants on February 20 and February 27, 2025, in Vallejo. The agencies arrested eight suspects on federal firearm and drug trafficking charges and two suspects on state charges. This multi-agency operation is part of VPD's focus on partnering with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to reduce violent crime.

VPD will continue this task force approach to stopping gun crimes through the Department of Justice Department National Public Safety Partnership program known as PSP. The program is providing the City of Vallejo with evidence-based training and technical assistance to help address violent crime associated with guns, gangs, and drugs.

The PSP program will help carry out Mayor Andrea Sorce's vision to bring local, state, and federal law enforcement together to reduce violent crime and improve public safety. "Every community member deserves to feel safe and secure in their home," stated Vallejo Police Chief Jason Ta. "We are overcoming our resource limitations through law enforcement and community partnerships. We must work together as a team to make Vallejo safer."

The department's number one goal is reducing violent crime. On February 27, 2025, VPD invited dozens of community members to Vallejo City Hall. Chief Ta thanked them for working with the department to reduce gun violence, and he shared the success of the recent joint operation that touched on all three of VPD's focus areas:

  • Community Partnerships and Intervention
  • Strategic and Surgical Enforcement
  • Technology and Innovation

Growing community relationships and trust are VPD's highest priority as it launches this new approach to reducing violent crime. "We are encouraged by the police department's increased level of community engagement and its recent efforts to stop the violence by offering support to those who need it while holding offenders accountable," said Renee Sykes of the Police Oversight and Accountability Commission. "We feel the department is moving in the right direction."
