90 Scouts. 15 Days. One Unforgettable Adventure!

What an unforgettable 15-day adventure for the Greater Los Angeles Scouting National Jamboree Contingent!

From walking through the historic streets of Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., to conquering thrilling rides at Kings Dominion, and experiencing the once-in-a-lifetime adventure of the National Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia, our 90 Scouts and 10 dedicated adult leaders embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, resilience, and the true spirit of Scouting.

But this journey didn't begin when we boarded the bus.

For six months leading up to our departure, our contingent came together to train, prepare, and build lasting friendships. Those early connections grew into a team, and over the course of this incredible adventure, that team became a family.

Throughout the trip, our Scouts challenged themselves, encouraged one another, discovered new strengths, and proudly represented Greater Los Angeles Scouting on the national stage. They embodied the values of Scouting through leadership, service, perseverance, and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones.

As they return home to their units and communities, they bring back far more than amazing memories. They return with new skills, lifelong friendships, greater confidence, and a renewed commitment to making a difference wherever they go.

Our theme throughout this journey was simple:

Elevate.

We elevate ourselves through service.

We elevate others through leadership.

And together, we elevate our communities through our actions.

Thank you to our Scouts, adult leaders, volunteers, families, and supporters who made this extraordinary experience possible. Your encouragement and dedication helped create memories that will last a lifetime.

The buses may have returned home, but the adventure and its impact will continue for years to come.

Unit and Membership Renewal Information

It is time for many of us to renew our unit charters and individual memberships with Scouting America. As a reminder, unit renewals and individual member renewals are now separate processes.

Please review the instructions below to ensure a smooth renewal season.

Unit Renewal

Who completes it: The Unit Key-3.
Where to renew: Log in to the Organization Manager at my.scouting.org.
Timeline: Renewal opens 60 days prior to your unit's expiration date. For most units in Greater LA Scouting, the expiration date is September 30.
Important Note: Please submit your unit renewal as soon as possible. You do not need to wait for all individual members to renew before submitting the unit’s charter.

Membership Renewal

Who completes it: Individual members/families can renew directly. Alternatively, units can choose to opt in and pay for some or all of their members.
Action Item: Please check with your unit’s Committee Chair or Unit Leader to confirm your unit's preferred renewal and payment method.
Text Reminders: Starting in August, Scouting America will text members directly to remind them of upcoming renewals. These notifications will begin 45 days before membership expiration.

Welcome to the Team, Kevin Delaney!

Greater LA Scouting is excited to welcome Kevin Delaney as our new Chief Development Officer!

Kevin joins our team with more than 25 years of fundraising and nonprofit leadership experience, bringing a proven track record of building meaningful partnerships and advancing missions that make a lasting impact. His expertise includes strategic planning, capital campaigns, fund development, grant writing, communications, marketing, volunteer engagement, and community outreach.

Prior to joining Greater LA Scouting, Kevin served with Netzel Grigsby Associates, where he helped nonprofit organizations strengthen fundraising efforts, conduct capital campaigns, and develop long-term strategic plans. He also held leadership positions at Loyola Marymount University, Chaminade College Preparatory, and La Salle College Preparatory, leading successful fundraising, marketing, admissions, and alumni engagement initiatives.

An active leader in the nonprofit community, Kevin is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Los Angeles Chapter, where he has served in several leadership roles, including Chair of National Philanthropy Day. He also serves on the board of the Catholic Youth Organization – Los Angeles, supporting youth sports programs serving more than 100 schools.

Kevin earned both his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Loyola Marymount University.

Roll Into Adventure at Community Wheels Fest

Grab your bike, invite a friend, and get ready for an action-packed day of adventure at Community Wheels Fest!

Join us on Saturday, September 26, from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. at Firestone Scout Reservation for a fun-filled cycling event where Cub Scouts are encouraged to bring a buddy—and the best part is your buddy does NOT have to be a current Cub Scout!

Scouts will rotate through exciting, hands-on activity stations inspired by real-world community vehicles while building confidence on their bikes and learning valuable skills in safety, teamwork, and community awareness. Along the way, Cub Scouts will complete most of the Cycling Adventure requirements for their rank!

Adventure Stations Include:

Jungle Expedition II

Secrets of Lost Camp Pepperdine

Adventure is calling! Join us October 9–11, 2026, for The Jungle Expedition 2: Secrets of Lost Camp Pepperdine, an action-packed weekend where Scouts will solve a legendary mystery while putting their Scout skills to the test.

Journey into Jangi Hollow, tackle exciting challenges, solve clues, and work as a patrol to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of Lost Camp Pepperdine. Along the way, Scouts can earn a variety of merit badges, including Archery, Climbing, First Aid, Environmental Science, Nature, Rifle Shooting, Shotgun Shooting, Weather, Welding, and more!

Adult leaders can also participate in Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) training during the weekend.

Boo Fest | October 23–25

Cub Scouts and their families are invited for a weekend of camping, crafts, archery, BB guns, slingshots, obstacle courses, campfires, s'mores, and plenty of festive fall fun. It's the perfect way to make lasting memories together in the outdoors!

Pumpkin Smash | November 13–15

Calling all Scouts BSA, Venturers, and Sea Scouts! Bring your leftover Halloween pumpkins and watch them smash, shatter, and splatter during one of our most exciting fall traditions. Spend the weekend camping while taking on archery, shotgun shooting, tomahawk throwing, and other outdoor challenges before giving those pumpkins an unforgettable sendoff. It's the perfect mix of adventure, friendly competition, and Scouting fun you won't want to miss!
