Keep Going

”…let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.”

~Hebrews 12:1b, 2

As we continue in this Lenten Journey, it is a suitable time to take inventory. There are things we do that slow us down in our journey to the cross, death, and glorious Easter resurrection.

We get sidetracked by things of this world that aren’t necessarily bad in themselves, but take us away from our focus of living for the Lord. It could be skipping daily prayer time so you could have time for something else that you enjoy. It could be sin that trips you up; jealousy, envy, telling lies.

Cast these things aside over these 40 days. Focus on what God calls us to do. The trivial things that lead us away from discipline can so easily lead us further away from devoting these 40 days to live our lives in a way that would please our Lord.

And yes, this can be hard. And no, we won’t always get it right. But it is striving to do better in this season, that will get us to a glorious Easter day!
